New build with the Phanteks Elite

Poohy14

So I just bought the Phanteks Elite. Now I will start a new computer build since I have been looking at parts lately and seem that it is time. This will take awhile to finish as I will be waiting for a Intel price drop unless Ryzen is good enough for me to by since the hype is real right now for it. I will be doing hard line cooling in this new build.

Just so you know I am not lying about this here is a photo

Spoiler

m74xl0.png

Now so far only have couple of parts picked out that I want for sure.
EVGA Supernova G3 1000W
Corsair Dominator Platinum
Some Nvidia GPU
Either MSI (Godlike) or Asus (Extreme 10) mobo

If you have any idea for a motherboard for me to choose let me know. The case Supports Asus Aura and MSI Mystic Light so I would like to choose something that can use that for the Case LED lights. Also prefer going X99 as well unless Ryzen is good enough but that leaves the fact that I want a Nvidia GPU and not a AMD.

unfortunately it costs more than most peoples builds but I am here to go all out for my new case. Currently still using my first case I bought 6 years ago (Fractal Arc Midi) and it is far to beat up and I never bought this case new, got it from a friend that wanted to sell it to me for $50. So this will be my first brand new case I bought for myself.

I saw the Enthoo Elite on Hardware Canucks, and it comes in a flight case of all things!  That thing is MASSIVE, but gorgeous.  I hope you put a really sweet build together with that case at hand.

If you want an extreme motherboard, another suggestion would be the AsRock Supercarrier motherboard, which has a ton of bells and whistles on it (including an AURA RGB header on the board)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157753&cm_re=asrock_supercarrier-_-13-157-753-_-Product

I would go with an EVGA Nvidia card as their customer service has gained a lot of compliments from many users.  Which one would depend on your plans for use - most likely either a 1070 or 1080 (or two of one of them).

Midnight Rig - CPU: i7-7700K / Cooler: Corsair h100i V2 / Motherboard: AsRock Z270 Taichi / RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 3200Mhz / GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2 / SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm / PSU: EVGA Supernova B2 750W

I am excited to get the case soon. Currently want to get an x99 board instead of z270, going all out for the build (as much as I can), Like I said, looking at an Asus or MSI motherboard for the RGB lights because that is what Phanteks can use on their case LED with their software. I will for sure go with an EVGA GPU only because that is all I ever used and trusted. But I will do dual 1080 but will run one 1080 for awhile then update it later unless an 1080 Ti comes out soon which then I will get that and only run 1 gpu in the build.

If you want X99, go for it, but from what I'm seeing, the Ryzen 1700X matches it blow for blow with more actual cores in it.  I was wanting Broadwell-E myself for a while, but after seeing what the 1700X has in store, I'm thinking about waiting for the reviews since I am building a new system already, but may build a Ryzen productivity rig for more video editing and stuff that takes advantage of the extra cores.

That is why I didnt follow the hype and stuck to an Intel build so I didnt get disappointing on it when it was released. The processor I want would be a 6850K, I live close to a Microcenter so it wont be that much.

It gives u freedom to mount in mutiple location and not to mention their product are awesome. Check out the new alphacool vpp755 pump. U maybe interested to try them out. Im using hardware labs radiator but u can literally use any brand u support. 1080ti bro lol. Fans if u want rgb then corsair bling bling fans for sure.

I want looking at EK things since I just build a friends computer with their products and they were nice. Going to you Phanteks fittings and GPU blocks. I currently have a Swiftech CPU block and a rad I can use. Dont really need a 6950x but I still want that 40 pci lanes so I will just go with a 6850k since that will be all I would ever need. I will look into that Alphacool pump but this case I have, it comes with a few different locations I can mount with brackets for it as well so it will be easy for me to do that. This is the reason I bought this case was for watercooling since I built in a few cases already for it and I started to see that it was hard to make things look good so I just wanted the ease of use to build and expand to multiple rads If I wanted. Also for fans, I will be sticking to Noctua industrial NF-A14 and 12 since I have a lot of those laying around since I love the quality of them.

I want looking at EK things since I just build a friends computer with their products and they were nice. Going to you Phanteks fittings and GPU blocks. Well i was just joking about the 6950x but im using 6850k myself so i can say its a great cpu. Ek is good but in terms of quality singularity computers is still better. But since u have specific mounting in your mind and planning to use brackets included in your case there is nothing much to say here. As for now im not sure wt rad where is the placement and where ur going to mount ur pump. But probably having a layout on how u planning to do is better since if u manage to share it here. We all could chip in some suggestion.

For rad placement, I was going to do top and front since that would be all I need. The front I can do a 420mm and the top will be a 480mm  and a rear 120mm which that would be all I would need for cooling. You can go to the product page, so you can see the case better so you know what I am looking at if you want to.

Edit: I would also like to know a good place to order the items for, is performance-pcs any good or go somewhere else? Also, not sure what size fitting I will need. The PEGT tubing I bought is 16mm OD and 12mm ID. Would be a lot of help to determine the correct size of fittings I will need as this is my first hardline I will be running.

Usually the fittings follow the od size so basically 16mm fittings. I personally use barrow fittings. The look exactly like bitspower oem fittings. You can have a look.

https://shop33149446.world.taobao.com/

Use google chrome and have your translation on.

They range from rotatory, fill port, drain valve, compression fittings any u can just browse through their inventory if your interested in other items.

And u didnt mention where u want to position ur pump. Maybe mount on 420 rad located in the front ?. And the rear 120 dont bother to add radiator. I think ur current 480 and 420 is more then enough cooling for ur hardware. Or do u want to seperate the res and pump. My suggestion pump and res together is better since is much more easier to do the loop. Since your case is very wide inside also go for a big res. Try to fill up the space. Since its you first time. Its better to avoid more then 3 bends. Take a short and easy route for hardline because it will end up looking much better then expected. Are u going for full fittings or do you want to bend.

I am not sure if I will bend or use fittings. Bending wont be that hard for me since I run conduit at work so that will be easy enough for me. Currently on the planning stage of things. Might even use my Swiftech H240-X (since it is nice quality) on the top, then a 420 rad in front since that will be enough cooling. Then also add in another large res to fill in the space next to my mobo. My drives will be in the bottom area since I kinda want them all to be close together.

I will also be using my old drive from my current system into my new one so that will save me money on buying new ones and I do not need new ones since they are fairly new anyways. Here is a link to a PCpartpicker that I just made up and for the build besides the watercooling part that I will have to make up eventually with my fittings rads and another res.
