Idk about Discord, but does forum badge transfer over? Do we know someone who has had it working like that?

What do you mean transfer... You have an "LGM Pilot" thing (ok it's not a badge but you know what I mean). Did I have to purchase it from the forum in order to get that, and not the floatplane website?

That's right. AFAIK things bought trough actual site don't transfer back to forums. My subscription is bought and renewed for past 3 years on forums. The subscription databases are different and all I have read from Mortis is that there's no point 2-way linking them. Things worj from forum to site, but not other way around. Discord thing is different as they were working on linking actual sites database with Discord directly. I'm few shows late with WAN thus not knowing for sure if it's supposed to be working already.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll be switching my subscription. That's ok, I'll save 1 cent a month.

So I've connected my LTT account and Discord account from the Floatplane website, but I have neither the LGM Pilot badge nor the Floatplane.com Pilot group in discord... Thoughts?

If you subscribed on floatplane.com, you should get the role on Discord if you linked your FP and Discord accounts on fp.com, but you don't get anything on the forum at the moment.

If you're not getting any discord roles, what's your discord username, and I can pass it onto the FP team?

  • 2 weeks later...

I need help.

Basically, I've lost access to Floatplane. I don't see the tab at the top that can take me there. I have paid the membership fee only on the 11th December and that did go through. I've never ever had a problem since joining up, I'm at a loss.

Any idea what to do?

Please use the wizard linked in the first post, selecting "Paid but don't have access". It should be able to fix it for you. If it isn't able to, it will refer you to floatplanehelp@gmail.com, where they will be able to help you out further.

Yeah I don't think they read that e-mail account. I've heard nothing back from them. I'm just going to open a dispute with Paypal.

You are aware that the service is in alpha, and that they don't advertise fast support anywhere? From what I know, it takes 1-3 business days fastest and up to 2 weeks slowest to get support through email. With holidays coming, might take more. You can also try to PM to @Yuki v~ or even Linus or Nick/Colton if you want to be annoying. But when we have Linus posting this just few pages back:

24/7 support is definitely not a thing yet :P

Give us some more time!

I wouldn't hold my breath. Feel free to open dispute, thats your decision. But I would encourage that you are more patient with smaller companies like LMG. Having fast support is expensive and only bigger companies can afford it.

Thing is. I've had no access since the 11th. With this festive period and holidays coming, if I don't take drastic action, it will more than likely be after the new year before anything is done. I will then have lost out on a whole month (that I've paid for).

They do read the emails, and have a dedicated support person that handles them, but it is only one person so it might take a couple of days to get a response.

FWIW, from what I can see, it looks like PayPal did something weird with the billing dates, so it's likely that all support will be able to do is refund it for you. You should be safe to cancel the current subscription and subscribe again, then get a refund for the missing payment (either through PayPal dispute or support) later, if you want to resume your FP access asap.

It's strange. This automatic payment has been set up now for more than a year. More than a year with no issues. I've changed nothing on it. Paypal say that the transaction is complete.

PS: Still heard nothing from support on this issue.

Floatplane access that has been granted due to Bronze/Silver/Gold subscriptions and Moderator status will continue to function as before. It's only subscriptions for the LMG Floatplane plan (and maybe Bitwit Ultra too) that will be changing.

So odd problem, I was trying to follow the instructions that luke sent in response to my email about moving my floatplane account. I got to the point where it tells me to click a cancel button... I cannot find a cancel button on the page I'm told to be on, is this just me? I am just kind of hoping im stupid and dont see the button but I have looked several times and refreshed.

Ok I found the problem, the cancel button is one page before the one the instructions tell you it is on. Hopefully this helps someone else save a lot of time haha :D

If you buy through website, you don't get forum access. Yes for all other features, if Discord integration is already working.

Is this still the case? They kept saying that they won't do forum subscriptions anymore, so I subscribed via floatplane.com , i can see everything on floatplane.com and have linked my forum account with the Floatplane account, but cannot see the Floatplane forum. Do I need to contact support or something? I remember Linus saying on the WAN show last week that the forum will be visible with the videos as embedded floatplane.com videos...

I haven't watched WAN (5 weeks behind), so I can't say anything on that. Discord should be working, but for the rest, you need to contact support for more info.

I've not watched that episode of the WAN show, but I don't believe that's the case. As far as I know, everything should be moving off the forum and onto floatplane.com.

Not sure where to ask this, tried a few places including email but never heard anything back.  I've been trying on and off to recover a loging to floatplane.  The account (this one) was created on the forms and I tried to link it with  floatplane but that part ultimately failed since I never received an activation email (likely due to the address?).

I tried again last week but created a new account entirely on floatplane (toor2).  The weird thing .. ok outright disturbing - is the toor2 account got _linked_ to toor (this account), on the forums.   That should not have happened, at least I never authorized toor2 nor was I prompted to.  I'd imagine it was due to a cookie or some cross session leak.   Again I tried to reach floatplane support and I know you guys are busy but .... surely security issues are viewed with a bit more importance?

Cheers

The first time you tried to sign in with Floatplane, you will have been given an OAuth consent screen, where you authorized Floatplane to access your email and group. Subsequent clicks of the "Sign in with LTT forum" button will have gone straight back to floatplane with a proof of your authenticity, because you already authorized it.

If you clicked "Sign in with LTT forum" after creating your new account, it will have linked them without displaying a confirmation or consent screen on either end.

If you're sure that you didn't do that, it is possible that they were associated because they have the same email, but I'm not sure.

If you still think there's a security issue, I can escalate it to the FP team, but I suspect that it's one of the other things.
