Difference in sharpness between 34" Ultrawide 1080p vs 1440p display?

Hi all,

How big is the difference in sharpness between a 1080p and 1440p Ultrawide display?

I am build a new gaming pc with 3 ultrawide displays. A 34" 1440p 100hz freesync display is $950 upwards and a 1080p starts from $650. Is the additional $$ worth it?  I am upgrading from 3x22" 1080p 60hz Widescreen displays.

And could you guys suggest some monitors?

Thank you all

Personally I can't use 27" 1080p monitors. The low ppi gives me headaches.

This is the same height but wider.

I'd go 1440p.

its pretty sizable. unless youre sitting a meter away or more, the 1080p ultrawide at that size will be very noticeable.
however, if you're gaming with nvidia surround or the like with this setup, there's no way in hell today's hardware can handle triple 1440p ultrawides.

triple 2560x1080p monitors is exactly the same number of pixels as a standard 4k monitor. so a titan or a 1080 could probably handle it relatively well. but triple 3440x1440... no way in hell.

It depends on how far u sit cause the closer u are the more u'ill see the gap between pixel.

1080p sweetspot for me is between 22-24 inch. and i think 34inch 1440p is still to wide for the resolution, i would say at least 27inch is the best for 1440p.

Hem...you now that a 27' 16:9 1440 monitor has the same pixel density as a 21:9 34' 1440 right?

Depends on what 1440p u are referring to.. 2k or 4k?

1440p 16:9 is widescreen mostly 2560 x 1440 and 1440p 21:9 is 4k 3440 x 1440.

If the op want to buy 21:9 1440p it must be 4k...

If u are comparing it to 27 16:9 1440p to 4k then yes it has the same Ppi.

Thank you for the reply. I am looking for 21:9 Ultrawide solution.

Thank you for your suggestion. Should I wait till we get powerful GPUs in the market or 2x1080 can do the job?

May i remind u that 1440p its just the number of vertical pixel.

But people referring it as QHD.

Wait for 1080ti or radeon Vega. 1080 is not good for value.

Yes. I have stated its "Ultrawide" in the original post.

I have to wait for a couple of months I guess!

it depends on personal preference on how it looks but a lot of the better systems can power that for sure.

34" 21:9 is equivalent to a 27.0" 16:9 monitor extended horizontally, so you can look up discussions about 27" 1080p vs 1440p which are a lot more commonly talked about, and it's the same thing. Short answer is, most people do not like 27" 1920×1080 (or 34" 2560×1080 in this case).

I use a 29 inch 2560x1080p one and I honestly think that any bigger screen Does need to be higher resolution...
