Can I put a titan x reference cooler on a 980ti reference board?

So I was curious if I could put a titan x cooler on a 980ti because I really like the design of it, and since the 980ti uses a cut down core of the titan x, I figured it should fit. Don't ask why I'm doing it, just tell me if it would work or if I should stop posting stupid threads at 2 am.

I mean technically it should work because they both have the same GPU and they same layout except for the Titan X having more memory modules..but yeah

The Waterblocks work across both cards, I wouldn't see why the air coolers wouldn't.

oh makes sense. I have money to spare and literally nothing to do over the weekend so I'll go pick up a titan x cooler and see what happens.

It won't perform any better, might be easier just to paint the 980Ti cooler black.

Last time I tried painting something I got sued and got beaten up because 'you're not supposed to paint random stranger's dogs' apparently.
