How do you Canadians handle the cold?

Chaicho

Its barely 50 degrees here in california and since im not really moving or doing any physical activity, I get super cold, especially my fingers and toes for some reason.

Is your guys solution just a heater (which I already order) or is there a way to maintain you body warm without it.

I live in virginia and can tell you what works for me.  Our winters arent as mild as  yours are adn we typically average low-mid 40s with spurs below freezing.

A space heater is a good way to supplement whatever central solution you have, especially if there is a cold spot somewhere.  A humidifier also does wonders for making the air "feel" warmer than it actually is.  Just dont run both of them off the same breaker or you might trip it.

Apart from that Hot chocolate, sweaters, and a some slippers to keep for your feet warm.

If you have drafty windows you can look into the shrink wrap solution.  I did that last year and damn did it make a difference.  I didn't bother this year as i have brand new windows and not those old drafty storm windows that were original to the house.

Hope some of this helps.

P.s. Also heated mattress pads are pretty damn awesome too.

inb4 people complain about the Fahrenheit. 50 F = 10 C.

Now I'm not Canadian, but I am from a place where 10 C is quite normal. The way I handle it: being used to the temperature. Oh and blankets.

uh.. Heater in house. It can be like -10(f) out and be 70 inside, then you are not cold.

jackets, socks ect.

Layers work best...  In the winter, I set the heater in the house to 60 F and if I'm cold, I'll add some layers or grab a blanket or two.

On the flip side, I find it hilarious that my Canadian friends think 80F (26.66C) is "hot".

I'd probably be dead if I'm in Canada right now. They'd probably won't survive our scorching hot summers reaching 98'F/37'C.

Yeah space heaters shouldn't be necessary in a somewhat modern house that uses central forced air heating.

If you live in a shitty old apartment that leaks heat like crazy, or an old drafty house? Maybe. But space heaters use a decent amount of electricity, so they're a lot more expensive to operate compared to natural gas furnaces, etc.

Really? It's snowing in Surrey (acordar to CSF) which is near Vancouver. I thought the proximity makes the weather pretty similar. ??‍♂️

Well I lived there. Yeah but that's up the hill. In the city you barely get snow. A proper place to use would be Manitoba. Hell even Ontario is cold enough

Regardless, I think Canada's weather will kill me. I once climbed up a mountain here and the temperature is 10'C/50'F and I was freezing despite my thick jacket.

Indeed. That temperature belongs to an air conditioner. I think my AC can blow cold air up to 16 degrees Celsius.

quickly burn your hand and toes (preferably with a blowtorch) and when blood starts to rush you'll feel nice and toasty or alternatively you could just were gloves and slippers but that's boring hope it helps.
