Looking for a new stand-alone mic

Darchitect
Go to solution Solved by Aytex,

If the Samson meteor doesn't look ugly then that is a good alternative

Or the neweer mic bundle on Amazon for like $20

Hi, I am looking to buy a new mic under $100, because my current mic hasn't been working welI and I can't seem to fix it.

What I am looking for in a mic:

- Not part of a headset

- large range

- up to date drivers

- under $100 (or as close as possible)

- high quality (yes I know this is opinionated but I will look into the quality of all mics recommended in this forum.

- has a sturdy stand (not completely necessary)

- works with almost all apps (my current mic doesn't work with Discord - however, this may be a very rare case)

Thanks for taking your time to help!

Blue snowballs are pretty good. I have the cheapest which is the Ice, and it has a plastic stand. It work but if you're rough with it, it will break.
The one right above it (don't remember the name) has a metal stand, and then the Yeti is the best one they have (I think).

They're all USB, use standard drivers (Don't need to install anything) and with with Audacity, skype, discord, all by default.

Snowball is nice, but the Samson Meteor I use now is a bit cheaper (at least when I got it) and sounds better imo. The Blue Yeti is a good choice if you're willing to spend more.

the blue snowball looks like a great choice but how good is the quality from 3 ft away?

Oh then all the options above are pretty good.I have good experiences with the snowball and it sounds beautiful for the price, but I really wouldn't use it for anything else.Pretty good distance too.If your doing anythingelse get a sm58 and a cheap audio interface/preamp

Apparently you're no expert at reading as well.

one concern I have about the u37 is that it's ugly as fuck, is there anything similar that looks good?

I've heard that the level drastically decreases after about a foot away from it. It's really meant for voice overs.

Are you the one joking?

"I don't want it cause it's ugly"

It's good sounding and what you wanted in a mic as you listed above

I'd really suggest the ModMic, that's what I use for everything, but you want a desktop mic, so I'm not really sure what you should get. Maybe a shotgun mic on a stand?
