No cause this is becoming the same situation as preordering games which is also turning into a larger problem. 2016 was a hell hole for preordering. What was just simple rewards turned into a whole marketing craze.

Then again if you are wealthy and don't care about your money then might as well.

A few hundred may not seem much to many but to me that is a lot and I would like to have SOME research and background information before pulling the trigger

If you think I'm here to talk trash about ryzen, no it's more about preordering and the concept of it and how it as effected us.

Oh please they've put out plenty of info, and demand is extremely high, so yes I'm definitely preordering.  Worst case scenario will still be good lol, just watch.  I heavily discourage preordering games unless from smaller companies to show support, not huge companies that constantly screw ppl over (like EA).  And right now, AMD deserves all the support they can get IMO.  Watch the chips start selling for $800+ on ebay cuz they sell out so fast.

No, but I think I'm ditching my plans for a "high" end mainstream build or rather to include Intel in those plans.

I think I'll probably get an R7 1700X and either an X370 board from Asus or MSI.

Sources please? About lying on benchmark scores?  Especially since they are putting out single and multi-thread scores?

"Plenty of info"

Specs on paper is a whole different story than real life performance

I'm not here trying to saying ryzen is going to be a bad chip either sure the competition is great for us consumers.

I built my current system with the intention to use it until 2020, and may use it a few more years after that.

As glad as I am to see that AMD may finally be competitive again, I'm not hyped and have no intention of switching over anytime soon.

I'm still not sure whether to get the 1700 or 1800X. I was going to order the motherboard but decided to hold off until I knew which CPU I was getting.

No because my 4790K is still a fantastic CPU. Also when I think about Ryzen I this horrible feeling that it won't be very good.

I'm not here trying to saying ryzen is going to be a bad chip either.

IDK I build like 20+ systems a year and my personal rig is 6800k + 1080, that's all very irrelevant, my point is I use same benches as they do and am not one of those broke AMD fanboys.  But cinebench alone is all I personally need to see, we can start accusing them of lying once chips are in our hands (not that you accused them).  So "specs on paper" when its benchmarks ive been using for a long time to test cpus is very relevant to me, especially when its single and multi-thread score.  If they just put multi score I'd be worried this is another FX deal where every one jumped ship because "ZOMG 8 cores 4 ghz".

(Why am I arguing in forums, I should have learned this lesson by now)

FWIW I completely agree with you guys on the games, and it really is ******* the industry.  All my damn gamer friends do it and I'm constantly lecturing them, when they know they can reach sales targets before the game even releases then why the hell would they put as much effort?!?!?!

Looks like Newegg doesn't accept PayPal payments for pre-orders so I'm holding off I guess.

I had the same issue it made me sad, if its in your paypal balance you can transfer back to your bank.  Also you can buy Amazon gift cards (probably newegg as well) on different sites with paypal and then turn around and use giftcard.

No its not my first custom pc as I had actually a very good pc but then the cpu died and the motherboard with it. So i wouldn't like to spend much money on it, about 200 € for motherboard and cpu

I'm Amazon all the way, their customer service is unrivaled, I returned crossfire r9 390s like 7 months after I bought them for full refund, I know this sounds horrible but the support (for crossfire) was absolutely horrid and drivers never fixed anything.  I didn't feel too bad since I buy 80% of my belongings through Amazon and 40% of work supplies lol.  And yeah the store card is great, that's exactly what I did was preorder through Amazon with 12 months no interest (if you check the post where I say I preordered you'll notice I said Amazon xD)

Yeah but I like to keep my "fun money" in my PayPal and use my various bank accounts for paying bills and such. I also don't use credit cards anymore and I try to avoid using my debit cards online. Maybe I'll use the AdSense check I got today to pre-order the motherboard at least.
