DVI vs Display Port

Sparky862

I am keeping this short and sweet. DVI-D supports 144Hz Refresh Rates .... Does Display Port also support 144Hz??

Just got this Monitor https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VG248QE/

And it shows it has Display Port. My GPU (GTX 1070 G1) also has Display Port connectors.

Should I use Display Port rather than DVI D??

DisplayPort has a lot more bandwidth than DVI so yes, it does.

For example, my monitor is 165Hz 1440p trough DisplayPort 1.2.

Yes displayport supports 144Hz and yeah it might be worth it, since you have at least two DP connections and only one DVI.

What Display Port should I get?

You mean cable?

I wouldn't worry about it if you are using DVI-D ... it won't change anything really... unless you need to free up the DVI-D for some reason.

Just go on Amazon and look for DP 1.2 to DP 1.2 cable that has good reviews.
