TITAN XP was never really meant to be a gaming card.

IIRC it has FP32 compute unlocked to some degree, which the GTX cards don't, so it's good for professional use if a quadro is too expensive.

No. Titan XP has laughable FP32 performance even when compared to the Kepler based GTX Titan Black.

Titan XP has amazing FP16 performance but it's FP32 performance is just mediocre.

-_-. I'm really hopelessly confused. IDEK. Titan XP has awful FP64 performance which is what I meant.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Ya. I'm on a GTX 960 4GB, and I have a 1440p monitor. All of my Blizzard games can still run maxed out, but a good handful of games has to have some of the settings turned down, with The Witcher 3 having to have all the settings turned down to their lowest values except medium on grass and foliage density and NPC count.

Witcher 3 looks dull with those settings ☹, but I can hit 60 FPS.

First you overclock your Titan X Maxwell properly:

Realize that you never needed a Pascal card in the first place, jump it and buy Volta = profit.

Kinda the dick move from Youtuber Benchs where they always make stock clocks comparison on purpose, Maxwell overclocks much better than Pascal what reduces the gap between the cards drastically.

I went from a 980 Ti to a 1080 and the 1080 is clearly faster. The Maxwell line will never catch a 1080.

It comes close but its still 10% behind at OC vs OC at 1440p. And a lot of people don't overclock. Only the few of us on these forums.

ETA: The 1080 replaces the 980, whilst the Titan X Pascal replaces the Titan XM. The 1080 Ti replaces the 980 Ti before it. It's fun to compare high/upper high end cards to previous enthusiast cards, but it's the wrong comparison. You need to compare the TXP to the TXM and Ti to Ti.

I'm sorry, I do not follow the nature of your replying at all, you have asked me what I meant when I said my Titan X runs as good as the 1080. I shown how with proper overclocking my Titan X reaches the stock performance of the 1080 and how that good enough to jump the Pascal line up entirely and save for the Volta line up. You could say the point of it is that if you invest in the Titan of your current gen you do get enough to skip the next gen, nVidia gives you that much.

That is why I am considering upgrading solely to the Titan X Volta, I literally don't understand what does all this have to do with comparing the cards with the correct counter-parts, nor that I was in anyway making it a PCMR of better performing GPU lol.

It's more likely that this has something with the Ryzen announce - Investors are selling from NVidia (because there were no new announcements recently from them) and started buying AMD stocks.

Also from what I can see the drop is really steep which is something common with stock prices. Do you remember Nintendo's stocks when Pokemon GO released?

Just wait for 2 weeks until AMD and NVidia have their events out so the public will have the information that is out there.

The actual results of the announcements during February 28th will be visible when the market gets stable again.

The changes in the stocks that will happen on February 28th, March 1st, March 2nd and March 3rd will be temporary because everything is a paper release. Once there is more concrete data and the sales are visible - the market will get stable and the actual changes will be visible - which won't happen at least 2 weeks from now (around a week after the announcements).

If you check a little more of the NVidia stocks - for the last 3 months - their stocks were at the current level back in the mid December 2016. Also their stock prices was climbing up until Feb 7th (119.13 all time high) to the current value (100.49) which NVidia hasn't seen such low value since Dec 16th (100.41).

If you look a year back in their stocks - they started with as low as 32$ per share. Do you think they are scared of a little drop with the prices?

Haha probably, cool trivia fact though it seems nVidia will change the name scheme on Volta, instead of being gtx 1150/1160/1170/1180 it will be gtx 2050/2060/2070/2080 and every new gen will follow it.

and every gen will have a Titan X as the top of the line product, I might actually get the Titan X Volta so I can skip the gen after it like I was able to jump Pascal with the Titan X Maxwell [:

Hmmm..  I want to get a better card to replace my 1070 since I'm hoping to give 4K gaming a try but idk if hoping for a 1080 ti, just getting a 1080, or waiting for the next Nvidia series is the best option.

Hmmm..  I want to get a better card to replace my 1070 since I'm hoping to give 4K gaming a try but idk if hoping for a 1080 ti, just getting a 1080, or waiting for the next Nvidia series is the best option.

You might not want to ask me, I'm riding this 980 into the ground until 4K monitors are lower priced.
