How much does Wallpaperengine affect general performance?

Surpuppa

I have never used Wallpaperengine, and I have no idea how it works. How much does it affect general performance such as booting time, program starting time, in game fps, ram and cpu usage etc. When Im building my next build it will probably have ryzen r5 or r6, would the many cores/threads of these counter the performance drop of Wallpaperengine?

PS. Are there any other programs similar to Wallpaperengine? I have seen some that animate the program icons on the wallpaper

last time i've seen one of these it was a hilareous horror show in terms of performance.

but generally.. it's a waste of performance for the sake of rather shallow eyecandy.

There are couple users in forums. I haven't personally tried (mainly since I rarely have just wall paper on screen). Here's a threads about it:

Apparently any animated/video pauses while you run heavy tasks or fullscreen.
