AMD Ryzen HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!!!

65W TDP goes to the 1700, 95W TDP goes to the other two. And no, that doesn't really affect overclocking, it just means it'll produce less heat (probably).

There's still a $200~ difference between the 1800x and the 1700. AMD could be pulling a 9590 and just charging a lot more for a higher factory clockspeed, but I'm more tempted to believe the 1700 will be power limited.

You guys are so fucking stuck up your rear ends with hype, you cannot see the forest for trees.

I count a hero board as relatively high end. It's also the max of what most consumers would ever need. Something like a maximus extreme is enthusiast.

I have a 4690k as well but i wouldn't really do that.
IPC seems to be similar to Haswell/Broadwell, unless you need the extra cores/threads.
I'm waiting until Zen+ to upgrade (which won't be for a while)

For whatever reason , i feel i got ripped off for this CPU . Even tho i got it 25% off normal price (235$) , its still a quad core with no HT at the end of the day , and while still adequate , i do have a few friends that i could sell it on to ( mobo CPU ram and cooling ) , and get myself either the 1700X or the 6 core one , which id say is win win ..

But i think waiting for proper reviews and gaming benchmarks is the smarter thing to do rather than rush into it

You are basing your argument oddly. A Hero board is hardly considered budget even for OC.

But even then, anyone that wants to have a "serious high end" board will wait for one. Why? Because pc builders buy the parts they want and need. Maybe some will buy the hero board to get a taste of zen, but they wont expect the world from it.

This is also true of intel though. Top teir boards take time to release when a new cpu comes out. So, once more, this is something I'm sure you know. Your argument falls flat on its face here. Im sure you know this, so its odd to me that you are trying to make it seems like its an AMD problem.

Oh god, I can't wait until the more budget oriented CPUs are released.  I know what I'll be replacing my 860K with. (This is assuming gaming benchmarks hold up).

Hell, You get 4 cores for a decent price, all Ryzen chips are overclockable, screw off with the unlocked i3, Intel.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

No, but I didn't pay the same in £££ as the US did in $$$ for my i7, infact even my 1080GTX was less, Ryzen is identical price

I was thinking of something along the lines of AsRock's X370 Taichi when I get around to looking at a new AMD build.  Honestly though, from what I've seen on Newegg today, the X370 and Z270 board equivalents are being priced within about $30.00 of each other with the X370 being a slight bit cheaper.

I don't care about features i will not use: i don't need quad channel ddr4, i don't need 40 pci lanes. I just need to play games and occasionally stream and a 6/12 260 usd cpu is all i need. If you don't like the product don't buy it, no one is making you

Do you know how much a Hellcat costs? It's a fucking high end muscle car, but it isn't the top either.

Just because you get an enthusiast CPU doesn't mean you need an enthusiast motherboard. There are people who get $300 motherboards with a 6900k. There's a reason the hero is $250, not $500. Enthusiast motherboards don't cost $250. They cost $500!
