Should have seen Lisa Sue lie to our face about fury x OC'ing "like a beast".   Don't think anyone relized she was talking about a pig or cow until all the reviewers where like "whats this 10-50 Mhz bump bulllshit?".  They've proven they can and will lie.

That wasn't Lisa lol
It was an engineer that was asked that question. Stupid answer, but Lisa never lied.

Also don't he called it an overclocker's dream because an overclocker dreams of it being able to OC. :P

Sadly those are both mATX. Thanks though :)

Oh sorry, just saw it meant ITX. It's going to be a while. mITX X99 took ages to appear and was super niché.

I'd say once the R5 Ryzen chips show up we'll see mITX more.

What I would be more interested in is the motherboards that support it. If I'm going to have Ryzen in my future build, I'm going to put as much watercooling in the system as possible and practice overclocking and heat management, which I could apply when thinking about extreme performance potential.

Forget having a cool sports car to show off; I'd rather have a desktop that concentrates server performance into an ATX case and implement virtualization for family/business use.

It was an engineer during an interview. He was also reffering to the ability of the water cooler they had for the fury x.

It was a statement that was sadly taken out of context.

That's inline with everyone else, it's the 1700 (non X you should be comparing to 7700k for pricing.

There's only 1 consumer mITX board for x99 IIRC, but that was mostly because the actual size of the chip is huge and since it can't make use of the memory or PCIe lane improvements it was largely seen as pointless.

I hope so, March 2nd can't come fast enough :P

Nothing rumored from ASRock or Asus eh? Unfortunate. Gigabytes last two generations of ITX boards have been a massive disappointment to me. So I guess I'm banking on MSI! Don't let me down. Front m.2 and 6+ USB please.

In single threaded applications yes, but the 1700 will stomp the 7700k in multi threaded.

In gaming? Won't beat 7700k in current games the same reason why 6800k doesnt. In something that actually use loads of cores and thread? It will most likely beat it.

I doubt it since Zen is rumored to have it's AVX capabilities severely handicapped

in workloads that are not AVX dependent, possibly; but otherwise .. no

even in gaming, I don't see the 1700 winning but in few titles (Watch Dogs 2 I would bet)

It's a shame they're not mentioning any of the cheaper cpus. I have my eye on that 200-250 range...there was a 6 core that looked really interesting to me.

I don't like the price to speed increase price point here but who am I to judge on this?

$71 for a .4 GHz increase from 3.0 to 3.4

$100 for a .2 GHz increase from 3.4 to 3.6

I most definitely want to see the 3rd party benchmarks before even considering a purchase at this point in time.

It's possible the more expensive ones are binned for better overclocking as well but who knows, we'll have to wait and see.

Which is why I'm holding off on official decisions until we see how well Zen overclocks. Though seeing the 1800x can do at least 4.1 ghz shows it should be able to do at least 4.3 ghz though it still remains to be seen exactly how high Zen can go.
