WHY WHEN I CHANGE THE BASE CLOCK OF AN I5 6400 JUST AT 3-5% IT REBOOT AND CRASH?

I was reading about OC the non k CPU's of intel and I have an h170 gaming 3 with the i5 6400, then I thought let's try but because I am with the stock cooler I tried to OC the base clock from 100MHz to 115-120MHz but the system crashes and reboot in a loop until to quit the mobo battery or disconnect the PSU.

Why it happens who can explain me?

Not all boards can do that much Bclk overclocking. Very few boards that aren't Z series can do it at all. I doubt that one can.

This is why I mentioned in the previous thread when you asked about it in the first place its not a good idea.

 

Baseclocking is rarely stable, and you will get minimal performance gain for when it is. Save your time and effort.

It crashes because you have not paid Intels fee for overclocking ready [:

Do not Base clock oc, you can damage your cpu and even destroy it in matter of seconds (without the ability to recover). If you want to oberclock you have to buy a ix -xxxxK chip. There are safety measures in the bios that prevent you from damaging, if you oc via multiplier.

You are trying to overclock it 15-20% and your cpu doesnt like it ¯\_ツ_/¯
