Is a 4790k still worth it in today's world?

I received a 4790k and Asus Sabertoth MK1 board from a friend.. Is it worth it to make this a main PC for video editing/gaming?

If its better than your existing gear, then go for it.  Its still a great platform.

the 4790k is sill a good cpu, intel has been stagnating the mainstream cpu market so in terms of gaming performance you will not notice the difference.

YES! It isn't much slower than the 6700K.

The 4790K is still a brilliant CPU, it's basically a 6700K / 7700K on a slightly bigger node.

7700K is only about 14% faster
