Gaming Rig for a Friend

Im going to build my friend a gaming rig since his old went to hell and he didnt buy a new one, he talking about gettin a ps4 so ive decided that he really needs a pc

Got hold of some used AMD parts(and i now ryzen drops soon, but i have no intension in waiting for that.) 

So I got a 

Asus SAbertooth 990fx REv 2.0 (i think)

AMD fx8320

Corsair Vengance 2x4 GB DDR 2400 Mhz ram

Corsair h100i 240 AIO

 

Im planning to use a 550 watts psu from corsair that i have lying around, will the cooling and power be enought to push some good oc on the cpu? or do i need a bigger psu

The GPU i havnt decided on yet, but i think like 1050Ti or something like that

no, intel main rig right now, same the parents and 2nd pc. I did have a athlon II x3 for a while.

same for me, had a athlon xp i think, but after that it was all intel

thing is have an  old coolermaster 1000w, but its to big for the tower, and i wanna use taht one my vm/nas server

@valdyrgramr called for our opinion in some other place.

 

It's possible, just don't expect too much... 550W is not that much to work with (at load) once you put in a GPU and your dives. Best bet is to see how much power you can draw from the 12V rail.

his biggest load is gonna be cs:go and watching 4k movies  hahaha

Trust me i know, he comes over just to play cs on my rig for a couple of hours

Then doing it on the current PSU should be good enough.

i know, but then again, got a h100 and a ocable chip so why not try to get the most out of it?

4.2 then? god i wish i didnt sell my 4690k chip, boosted to 4.7 without any problems  but are 8320 and 8350 demanding the same amount of power?

You can easily hit 4.5ghz with a 212 evo and 650w psu. Not sure how a 550w will do in this case but I'm sure you can hit 4.0ghz easily enough.

Nice, 8320 at 3.5 is starting to show its age, with my 290x it bottlenecks a few titles and i've got to overclock it to 4.2 in GTA5 but with a 1050ti you shouln't run into any issues with the CPU, that system shouldn't draw  more than 350W.

What kind of deal did you get on this?

i paid 1500 NOK, for all of it its about 180 $
