Ryzen topic #293840: Ryzen 7 coolers pictured, X models to also come with and without a Wraith cooler

captain cactus

Another hour, another Ryzen thing hitting the interwebs.

Sauce: https://videocardz.com/66163/amd-ryzen-7-1800x-1700x-1700-wraith-max-and-spire-coolers-confirmed

Quote

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X

The most high-end chip called Ryzen 7 1800X will be available with (YD180XBCAEMPK) and without cooler (YD180XBCAEWOF). The new Wraith Max cooler has a thermal design power of 140W and the dimensions are 105 mm (length) x 108 mm (width) and 85 mm (height). The Wraith Max weights 0.545 kg.

AMD Ryzen 7 1700X

Similar to 1800X, the Ryzen 7 1700X will be available in the same packages. The YD170XBCAEWOF does not have a cooler, while the YD170XBCAEMPK ship with Wraith Max cooler.

AMD Ryzen 7 1700

Finally, the Ryzen 7 1700 will ship with new Wraith Spire cooler with TDP of 95W. The dimensions are 109 (L) x 103 (W) and 54 (H) mm and the cooler weights 0.425 kg.

AMD-Ryzen-7-1800X-1700X-170-confirmed.pn

Pics of the cooler:

AMD-Wraith-Ryzen-Coolers.jpg

The Wraith Max is a Wraith-style cooler but with a different look and RGB (it's 2017 of course). The Wraith Spire seems a new addition to the stock cooler lineup resembling an Intel stock cooler, but taller and with a bigger fan (that has a shroud to direct airflow down instead of all over the place) and of course also with RGB.

This semi-confirms that even the X models will come with a stock cooler that has a maximum TDP of 140W. If XFR is to be the one thing that differs X models with non-X models, I'd imagine AMD made sure that with a stock cooler XFR would work just fine (maybe not as far as a custom air/liquid cooler but still).

Now it's just waiting to see what coolers we're getting with the 6- and 4-core models.

Ye ole' train

Fuck me. Can someone please tell these morons to stop with RGB.

If I wanted RGB in my PC, I would just grab some Christmas lights and shove in there.

Well the point of RGB is so they don't need 3+ SKUs for different color options. Now they can make one that will fit with any color theme

Plot twist, they were taken with Lumia 1020 and 41Mpx camera.

It will help as it directs the air flow, in the spire. In the max its a bit of the same, its only more plastic because of the smaller size of the fan in relation to the cooler

The camera actually takes 36Mpx photos. The 41 is because at the same time it also takes a 5Mpx photo to be used when the quality isnt needed

Nice, now if anyone is buying the 1700 and wants to sell me the cooler, let me know ;)
Assuming it's better than the stock one on the 1600, and better than a C7.

Why don't you just...not use it? You can disable the colors. A lot of people like to color match.

The current Wraith cooler is competitive with most 30-40 dollar heatsinks iirc.

If you check out this review you'll notice the wraith is actually very comparable to the 212 evo in terms of thermal performance. It just sacrifices a bit of noise, though the difference at 7 volts is very little. Since the c7 is a low profile cooler I wouldn't be surprised if these Ryzen coolers perform better than it. It's pretty neat that AMD's stock coolers now don't need to be switched with $25 coolers since they're more on par with them.

Same goes for the other ones on the list, and probably for all of the SKUs.

Naw, but you may be able to spend the same amount and not get one at all as per intel.

The SKU with the WOF suffix comes without a cooler, will probably be 10-20 dollars cheaper if past releases are any indication of this release.
