How much faster per clock are kaby lake CPUs compared to Lynnfield cpu's?

Considering upgrading, worth it? Either gonna upgrade to kaby lake or ryzen

I'd just wait for Ryzen before you make any decisions. It's more or less 2 weeks away now

CPU: Intel Core i7 8700

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070

MOBO: ASUS Z370-F STRIX

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2133MHz

Good idea, I was gonna wait but I was just curious about kaby lake vs Lynnfield

Here's how I'd compare. Just count the cores and clock speeds per core. Multiply the clock speed by how many cores and there you have a firm base of how good that CPU is against others. Obviously, things like memory limits, PCI-e lanes, L1 L2 and L3 cache all come into play too. But the method I choose can usually bring a good thought towards how good it is.

The major advancements of modern CPUs isn't clock speed but IPC, so you can compare something like a Sandy Bridge clock to Kaby Lake clock because Kaby Lake does more per clock

edit: for OP, I have no idea :P

That's an F in the profile pic
