1. WAIT FOR RYZEN!!!!!

2. Newegg sales are quite often, so compare multiple versions of the same GPU and get the best priced option (1080 in your case I assume)

3. Go outside of your comfort zone a bit to find deals, try websites like OutletPC that have good reviews

4. If you have Micro Center near you, go there

You could use PCPartPicker as a reference. They compare parts and prices from all the best well-known stores. And if you'd like I could make you a list. All I need to know is, are you going to overclock, and what will be the specific purpose of this PC?

The main purpose is most likely gaming, second purpose would be for CAD use. Yes i have no problem with overclocking if need be. If you could make a list that would be freakin awesome man.

Here is a list that I have made:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/q3v2Z8

Total: $1,925.45 USD

If you have any questions about this build and why I chose the parts then don't hesitate to reply. If you want me to add peripherals or custom parts such as fan controllers or SD card readers just ask.

He does not need 32 GB of RAM.

If the build is $2000 any GPU under a gtx 1080 is unacceptable. (+$200 to $250)

Also, if you plan on getting an AIO, I would never advise you use anything with a radiator smaller than 240mm. I could make a long text argument about this, but this video explains all the points I would have in an elegant format... so watch this:

(+$20 to $100 depending on desired AIO)

32 GB of ram is completely necessary in a gaming rig shouldn't be implemented unless your lucky and you get the other 16 GB for free (like me). Unless your gaming rig does other things besides gaming, like video editing with adobe premier, you will never use more than 16 GB in a realistic scenario. (-$100)

Unless OP doesn't have a monitor there is no reason to include one in the list. (-$250)

Considering the budget is $2000, use an HDD that is not from Seagate. Although the drive in the build is not the ST3000DM001 model, Seagate has had major reliability issues with 3 TB models in the past (https://www.backblaze.com/blog/3tb-hard-drive-failure/). Seagate also dropped their warranty from 3 years to 1 year. This is not exactly inspiring because it shows a lack of trust in the reliability of their own products.

Here are some alternatives:

^ These hard drives will sound clicky for a while, but that goes away over time usually. That is the nature of HGST drives. They are incredibly reliable if they don't fail within the first month.

I still don't understand why people advocate using windows 10 pro as opposed to just regular windows 10, especially if it's just going to be a gaming PC. Seriously, save the difference between Win10 Pro and regular win10 and invest in a better cooler than the H80iv2 for the reason I discussed above. (-$50)

What's the point in the blu ray/CD/DVD drive? (potentially -$46.88)

Get an SSD with a larger capacity than 120GB.

Here are some alternatives:

(http://www.outletpc.com/hg6496-crucial-ct275mx300ssd1-275gb-mx300-sata-25-ssd.html?utm_source=hg6496-crucial-ct275mx300ssd1-275gb-mx300-sata-25-ssd&utm_medium=shopping%2Bengine&utm_campaign=pcpartpicker&utm_content=Crucial%2B-%2BHard Drives %26 SSD > SSDs) (+$29)

(http://www.outletpc.com/hg6513-crucial-ct525mx300ssd1-525gb-mx300-sata-25-ssd.html?utm_source=hg6513-crucial-ct525mx300ssd1-525gb-mx300-sata-25-ssd&utm_medium=shopping%2Bengine&utm_campaign=pcpartpicker&utm_content=Crucial%2B-%2BHard Drives %26 SSD > 3.5" SATA Hard Drives) (+$84)

Here are the some drives almost exactly like the ones above in terms of price, capacity, and read/write speed, but in M.2 format if you want it:

(http://www.outletpc.com/vb4309-crucial-ct275mx300ssd4-275gb-m2-type-ssd.html?utm_source=vb4309-crucial-ct275mx300ssd4-275gb-m2-type-ssd&utm_medium=shopping%2Bengine&utm_campaign=pcpartpicker&utm_content=Crucial%2B-%2BHard Drives %26 SSD > SSDs) (+29... same price as the 2.5 inch drive)

(https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820156154&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=) (+$90)

@YancyBaldwin... I don't know much about using an M.2 drive as a boot drive, so you might want to consult others before purchasing this type of format if you aren't sure either.

... also wait for Ryzen.
