Looking for a 4k IPS 60hz monitor for around 850$ CAD.

Are you wanting g-sync or freesync?

They both do the same thing but it is more dependent on whether you have a Nvidia or Radeon Graphics Card.

Statisticaly more users use AMD GPU's because they're cheaper

First off if you don't know the difference between G-sync and Freesync you probably don't understand the benefits of having either.  Second if you are up for both then does that mean you haven't picked your graphics card yet?

Honestly it is hard to give you a suggestion for a 4k monitor if we don't know what type of graphics card you have.  Simply put you are going to have to have a fairly decent one if you want to game with it at 60FPS.  If you are okay gaming with it at 30FPS then you have more options.

So I guess the first question I have is what graphics card do you have now or plan to have?

Welp with a 1080 I would imagine you want g-sync.  I can't help you with AMD vega.

That means you really have two options.  The Asus PG27AQ or the Acer XB271HK.  Both those are 27 inch IPS 4k monitors with G-sync.  They are both about 1000 to 1200 CAD. You can find some refurbished models at your price range of 800-850 CAD.

If you don't mind TN panels, you can go for the Acer XB280HK which is a 28in 4k g-sync monitor with an TN panel.

Simply put if you want 4k g-sync and you want it new, you will probably have to go TN panel.

I'm in the same boat as you and I may save up for the Acer XB321HK which is 1400-1700 CAD depending on the specials of the week.  I have read that gaming wise both the Acer and Asus 27 in 4k IPS g-sync monitors are awesome but finding a sweet spot for Windows scaling can be a chore.  Using the 32 inch version from Acer is about as perfect as you can get with the windows scaling.

Nothing wrong with that monitor.

I have a Acer X34 Predator which is a 3440x1440 100Mhz IPS g-sync monitor and I love it.

I'm honestly going to hold off for a little bit on a 4k monitor until they come out with one that can utilize Display port 1.3 or 1.4.  Then you can get 100 Mhz with HDR with 4k and G-sync

The acer x34 is the same price as the Acer XB321HK which is the 32 in, 4k, IPS with G-sync.
