What's up with my sisters phone?

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Hey guys,

My sister got a SD card for her phone and I've formatted it as internal but when the internal storage reaches max, it says not enough storage. What's happening, because surely I would be able to save it because it says total of 16 as it's formatted so they are both internal?

I know she only has 2GB and what a catastrophy that is, but funnily enough I dont care about it so there is no need to comment about it.

Thank you.

Have you migrated her data over? Is there music on the internal storage? And finally, try removing bloatware (if any)

When it says migrate data, it's from the SD card to internal?? Should I do that?

No, that means you've already migrated.

Try removing bloatware and look at where her pictures are being saved from within the camera app

It should be from Internal to SD.

There should be an option for new apps to be installed on the SD instead of the internal storage.

Edit : Oh right, Google changed the way SD cards worked after Kitkat... Have a look at this, especially Step 3:

On marshmallow & noguat I found most cheap 2GB phones that I tried doing that on just plain deleting the apps.

But there is no option because I have formatted it so it is already internal so all the storage is as one, so there is no option???

Just try getting rid of bloatware,

Apps>all>app-name-here>disable

Some apps won't let you do this.

NO not all the storage is one. SD cards are completely separate from Internal storage. Music, Movies and Pictures can manually be moved. You might need to do it with it hooked up to a PC. Anything from the Google Play store has to be kept on internal storage. The only exception is if the manufacture allows you to move apps to SD. But movies and music and such that are from the Google Play store have to be on internal storage, DRM reasons.

She needs to delete shit she doesnt need. Also watch what she downloads or she will fill her internal storage again.

Through you won't be able to access the internal anymore from your PC, just the SD

Are you trying to install apps onto it? A lot of phones don't allow that because they're both too slow, and aren't the most stable.

I'd check that first.

When you reply to a post, don't quote it. It's unnecessary.
