Notebook speaker damage due to vlc

Never had any problem with VLC on any device I have used it on. It probably happened to 1 guy and it most likely wasn't even to do with VLC

I have heard a rumour that due to usage of vlc in once laptop may damage the speaker output quality and efficiency..can any one justify this stmnt
