Another part of twitters dignity rots away

Prysin
Quote

Abusive accounts that Twitter doesn't deem worthy of complete suspensions are now being hit with temporary restrictions. When an account is restricted, their reach on the platform significantly declines. Restricted users won't have their tweets shown to non-followers and even their @ mentions don't lead to notifications for non-followers

Again, the SJWs make another move on Twitter. I think we all know how this is going to end, seeing as Ms. Anita Sarkeesian is hired as some sort of "ethics and morals" consultant... We saw how great her ethics and morals were during Gamer Gate, so i think we can all see where this new "feature" is heading.

So, if you got any stocks in twitter (still) i SERIOUSLY suggest you sell em now.

Freedom of speech /= free of social consequence

I would argue that freedom of speech needs to extend to big organizations that have the power to disseminate information to large amounts of people, because restricting what can be said on those platforms gives them undue power to control what people know and what opinions they can have. Social consequence refers to individuals and small groups of people, not those in power. One might consider it trite to complain about this happening on Twitter of all places, but it is still a very important social media platform.

Why is the God of Hyperdeath SO...DARN...CUTE!?

I didn't realize because i like Capitalism more than Socialism (*cough* recent events *cough* empathy *cough* i'm not saying what you think i'm saying *cough*) that means it's legally justified for me to get curbstomped.

Nobody has a problem with being socially excluded for their views or speech.
It's when it's not so simple social consequence and extends to other areas that should be protected.
Like how my employer shouldn't be able to terminate me because of my religious beliefs/practices or the fact i might be an AMD fanboy and they might be an Nvidia fanboy.
Although, this is outside the topic; Twitter is a private company, they can do what they want and moderate however they want.
The market will decide how far they go.

I'm sure if he was concerned about that he wouldn't have started the topic using childish terminology like "SJW," and talking about Anita Sarkeesian literal years after everyone else forgot she existed. This was intentionally caustic from the start.

Just a word of warning, if this topic discussion drifts to politics even more it will probably get locked due to the CoC changes.

Just a reminder as I can see this very easily tipping over that this is to be a discussion specifically about what comments twitter should or should not be removing, and not a ful-out political discussion.  It will get locked it that happens.

Sadly it's not an invalid news story to talk about, it was just stillborn by its poster presenting within a rant.

May as well offer my on-topic thoughts, maybe the thread is salvagable:
Did Twitter seriously have no options until now to punish a channel for misbehavior in between ignoring it and a full perma-ban? This seems almost too obvious, I'm surprised it didn't already exist. Anyone else think this seems somewhat logical, or am I missing something?
