Hyper 212 evo Ryzen/AM4 mount?


Will there be one?

I've seen some rumors that AM3 mounting brackets will work with AM4 but don't quote me on that

That wouldn't make sense, I'm pretty sure the backplate wouldn't fit.

should definitely give their stock cooling a try if the cpu you buy comes with one, they look very neat and if the performance is acceptable might make the build cheaper for you to get better GPU [:

yeah, I remember seeing a while ago a picture of someone holding an AM4 backplate and a AM3 backplate and the holes aligned but now I can see that it was false. Noctua and EK both have separate mounting systems you can get for AM4. I'm sure Noctua wouldn't hand out AM4 ones for free if AM3 already worked.

It seems like most mounting solutions are using AMD's factory backplate too, I hope that will make most coolers easier to install.

I just browsed Deepcools site for another thread and they have marked Gammaxx 400 to be AM4 ready. I don't know if they will update pics/manuals more later, but from current info I'd say that rumor is correct.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 line of coolers use a custom backplate for AMD.

As @Megah3rtz mentioned, Cooler Master did say they were giving out FREE socket AM4 kits.

This is the only thing holding me back. I want to upgrade to Ryzen, but I want to keep my C.M. Hyper 212 EVO. I guess they ran out of stock giving away the back plate for free. Wish I knew about this sooner. Still waiting... (twiddling my thumbs vigorously).

Some motherboards do come with AM3 holes. So, please check with your motherboard specs.
