Ram upgrade 4gb => 8gb

Robitzu

I.ve got this Dell Opitex 360
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 ghz
RAM: 4gb(2x2gb ram sticks) DDR2 400MHZ
Video card: R5 230 DDR3 2gb asus silent edition

And i was wondering if i could upgrade to maybe 2x4gb sticks of ram of DDR2 800MHZ.

If anyone can help me he/she is welcome to write a comment.

Quite the old system you got there, you probably can find 2x 4gb ram ddr2 sticks on ebay for cheap and replace your old ones (yes it is compatible as long as its ddr2), but why bother all is so out-dated, you should really start saving for a new system, even though memory gotten a lot expensive this year with Ryzen releasing you might make a terrific build with 500dollars that will sweep the floor with what you got there.

No, your system doesn't support it.

No, it doesn't.

Ryzen is AMDs next CPU line.

Yes, it gets to a point where the former Core2Duo, Core2Quad should be put to retirement, try changing the HDD to a SSD, put more (old) memory and other stuff will end up being just a waste of money because the performance will remain too low, best thing you can do is save the money you thought in investing and then migrate to a newer platform.

I do wonder, why are you saying it won't support 8gb of ram? this processor supports 64-bit instruction set unless you mean the motherboard has some sort of limitation?

I don.t even know i think the motherboard and the integrated GPU has that limitations.. anyway thats what i.ve read around the web

Haha, I suppose, though I don't know why you're mad at them. If it's about the RAM, then maybe you shouldn't have purchased an old office system :P Most people wouldn't consider 20fps playable, especially since the dips are likely a lot lower, but if you enjoy it that's all that matters.

Consoles are fine for those that enjoy them. I have one. I love it.

Both the technical manual from Dell and the upgrade site at Crucial state that it can only accept 4GB max for the memory.

I imagine it'd be a motherboard limitation since it's an OEM board, and meant mostly for light office work.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't risk it unless the RAM was super cheap. It'd be pretty much impossible to resell it.

Well i did purchase one cuz i wanted a new phone.
If i would.t have spent more money on my phone than on the PC maybe it could have been a little bit better anyway
