I want one petabyte for my raspberry Pi.

 

Since I am to lazy to put something interesting here, I will put everything, but slightly abbreviated. Here is everything:

get 20 more of the drives (since you'll have the space in the 60 bay storinators) then see where you end up, should atleast get you closer then the 800TB

None... we've never had issues with Seagate drives and we've been using them in all of our servers for a couple years now. Zero complaints from us so far.

I too use only Seagate HDDs, but 0% defects out of the box ... odd

You could probably have a Raspberry Pi control a robot that takes HDDs from a cold storage array and plugs them into a SATA to USB adapter attached to the same Raspberry Pi, which then serves you whatever's on it. I mean the adapter and drive connectors would wear out and you wouldn't see it as a single volume, but still...

As far as I know, at least. Possible that we've just been very lucky so far I guess?

Besides I'm pretty sure they take extra care when shipping their highest end enterprise hardware. Large businesses can't afford to have 30 defective drives every time they get a shipment of 100.
