Yes, it will bottleneck hard. My old 8320 would bottleneck a r9 270x even @ 4.2GHz in GTA V.

It was good about 2 years back, because I specifically needed lot's of cores and wasn't gaming much. But for a gaming PC, they are pretty weak.

8300?  You mean the King of Bottlenecks?

My mother has one in her home PC that I built for her.  All she does is check her email.

Let that sink in.

Just wondering saw a comment on me buying a 1070 and said my 8300 Will bottleneck it is that tru?

I've been using a 8300 for a few months now (swapped an old c2d laptop for it)

At 4.6ghz in valley it will stop holding back my r9 fury with an oc, in general gaming at 1440 mostly maxed settings I get 'around' 60 fps on average. Running a DAW (protools) and mixing foley into 7.1 for work (given something I only do anymore when someone calls in a favor) it's a fine setup as long as any rst effects are programed to take advantage of multi threading, and most non avid ones aren't.

Yes it's a slow chip these days, is it the end of the world not not really, is it kinda manageable with an oc and fast ram (not sure why this made such a difference), yes it is, just gotta tweak it a little and have a decent board.

Would I go out and buy this kind of a setup new, no, but if you've already got it make the most of it.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

i had an FX-8320 overclocked to 4.6ghz and it was limiting the performance of my GTX 780 in many games...i can only imagine what it will be with a GTX 1070...unless you render your games at 4K the CPU will be your limiting factor in most games and you'll never get the performance that you should be getting with such a high power graphics solution...sorry :(
