Have an old Dynex 720P 40" TV

I have an old Dynex 40" tv and I want to use it as a monitor. I know it bad, but it is just temporary. What settings should I change to make it a better view experience?

If it has a game mode, you will want to use that as it will usually reduce latency and image cropping.

To expand on what @doomsriker said, most TV's game modes do not use a lot of image processing.

Is the TV's native resolution 720p? I'd assume it's 1360x768.

I wouldn't use as monitor.  I tried to use a 1080 32inch TV as monitor and I found the resolution was not enough.  So going to a bigger screen with less resolution will make it unusable IMOP.  I think that any thing bigger then 24" should be higher than 1080.

I've been using TVs as monitors for a while now.

Quite simply you need to put sharpness to zero and calibrate the rest of the colors with AVS 709, its free and already comes with the tutorial by video on the disc file, you can burn on a DVD or Bluray and use a supported BluRay player or PS3 to do the job.

 

But 720p 40' shouldn't look good at all, i already think my newer 1080p 40' Panasonic looks a bit messy...
