I know. Games like Watch_dogs 2 and Battlefield 1 are using more than 4C/8T and are able to fully utilise 12 Threads! But the reality of it is that right now, having more than 8 threads, doesn't really benefit you in most games.

but we don't buy hardware to last 6 months right?

Exactly. This is why a 5820K/6800K is a better choice than a 7700K atm and Ryzen will be an even better choice!

4c/8t is just starting to be beneficial. By the time you need more than that, a 6800k will be irrelevant anyway.

we will not see much more increase in ipc from now on so in 4 years the biggest difference will be the number of cores and not the ipc, and because of that now is a good time to buy more than 4 cores

They have no reason to discount them this heavily.

The current CPU market share situation dictates differently. They need to make a bigger splash than slightly undercutting Intel hoping for better than average adoption.

AMD is not greedy, unlike Intel.

But AMD is a company trying to make money... I see no reason why they wouldn't charge at least $700 for it, if it can *truly* compete with a 6900K.....

Ok guys...the WCCFTech clock speeds were just boost clocks.  I found a better lineup chart on Forbes, which is more reputable regardless.

looking at that, would a ryzen 3 1200x and a overclocking board be better than a ryzen 5 1300 and amds alternative to h110?

they would rather prefer to come back in competition than making huge profits for selling lower amount of chips. They have always cared for consumers alot more than Intel or Nvidia.

The FX-9590 at launch cost more than $800 and it couldn't compete...... Why would they charge just $500 for something that CAN compete!?

they simply can't there isn't much that can be done, unless we ditch x86 and try something else.

besides that the only way would be increased clocks, and we are not going much pass 5 ghz either so, expect small improvements, at least for intel.

You think that an 8 core CPU for the same price as a 6850K wouldn't be appealing? It definitely would!

Actually, Minecraft uses up to 8 threads, as well.  However, that's only because of how Java works.

probably because of mind-share, they have to jump start the idea that amd products are good, and they need attention, if not by advertising by crazy prices

These prices are too low to be true, The r5 1400x (i7 ish looking specs) is dreamy for 200.

That being said, imagine how would the market would respond. Do yous think that low prices could help them shift enough number to gain back some decent share?

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

i believe thats the idea, don't forget ryzen doesn't have graphics, that accounts for part of the price drop.

If the price and performance are as rumoured, the only thing that will be holding AMD back will be their ability to meet the market demand.
