What you don't see is, that there is actually a 3.5" drive in there right now and still space for another one :D

Hmmmm... it's a little early to start a new build but... So, is it running pretty cool and quiet?

now it is ;)

going up to 45-50° (both CPU+GPU) under game loads. (GPU at 25°C now ... CPU at about 30°C while surfing LTT) ;)

Also it is quiet now. Under 'office' loads it is  only makes a quiet hum, which is really only hearble in an otherwise dead silent room (and probably comes from the PSU fan).

Under game loads it gets a little louder, but then I would wear a headset anyway.

No comparision to the Corsair H60 pump and EVGA GTX 650 Ti fan, which made the system quiet loud.

Mini-Update :)

Thinking about mounting two NF-F12s on the bottom under the GPU

Still waiting for my demciflex filters ...

I would expect those fans to lower gpu temps enough to be worth

Tried it with the NF-F12s installed in the bottom. The GPU was a bit cooler, but there was definetly some noise added so I removed them again.

Got some mail from South Africa :D

Pretty much done for now.

What might come in 2014 ...

... a new PSU

... a big SSD (i.e. 500GB) -> removing all spinning disks.

also why didn't you just use the filters that came with the case?

- I am looking forward to the 600Watt version. Not that I would need that much power, but I hope it might habe a semi-passive mode, or at least a very quiet fan. I modded my Silverstone ST45SF PSU with a Nosieblocker fan, which already was an improvement from the stock fan, but it isn't pefect eiter. Also modular cables.

- I did use them, but they need to be screwed in, which is only possible with either a rad, fan or screw nut. Also you need to use countersunk screws, otherwise the sidepanels won't fit. I prefer the magnetic demciflex filter as they can be removed and cleaned rather quickly and without any tools. Also there is no filter supplied for the PSU ;)

Oh crap when are they releasing a 600W version?! I would probably replace the fan on the 450-gold I have right now if I don't get the 600W because I don't need that much power.

Nice I might have to get those now, you made them sound really good.

thank you. I highly doubt it, no real need for another case right now : /

If they ever decide to make another a steambox/htpc-styled case (like the new raven from silverstone with the riser card) I might be interested.

yep, it is a Noctua NF-B9 'ghetto'-mounted onto the GPU.

I have removed the original fan, because it was freakin loud. Now it stays cool as well, but is much much quieter.

I tried my best with cable management :D

Just noticed this. Do you still have any pictures of the GPU to show how you mounted the fan to the 650? Thinking about trying that myself, the fan noise is driving me crazy!

Awesome build btw!!  :D

It is really easy to remove the fan from the 650 Ti and you only need such a 2pin-to-3pin fan adapter:

3-pin-y-cable.jpg

I just used some black electrical tape to 'mount' it, so I could easily remove and build it back again ;)
