Twitch subs get free floatplaneclub subscription

I was watching the last Wan Show on twitch and i noticed that LTT doesn't have much subs on twitch and i understand why, because it's an hour long show that you get only once a week and there aren't much icons either so why pay 5$ for it, and that got me thinking why don't twitch subs get free floatplaneclub access because it's about the same price and a lot of people have twitch prime for the "free sub" .

I don't think linus really cares about twitch subs. Like didn't they just turn twitch subs on like 2 months ago.

How much of that $5 ends to streamer? Because FPC is pure $3 for LMG. And they really don't care about Twitch subs.

i thought it was quite a lot tbh, right around 3 dollars but i don't think anybody is allowed to disclose it.

its half, streamer gets 2.50 and twitch gets 2.50, many streamers i watch have said that.

the actual cash LTT gets from twitch subs is probably not equal to the cost of FPC. You could stop subbing to twitch and sub to FPC on the forum instead I guess. I've been throwing money at the forums for years now, and I didn't like demand I get back pay in FPC subscription, I knew what I signed up for. 

 

The other problem is I really don't know if there's an easy way to automatically rig it so subs on twitch get FPC, I'm not sure how the twitch end of it works, but linking forum usernames would be difficult. It really wouldn't be worth it from their end to do the work.

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Thats the part I thought today. There are two possible ways to link them. One is with email used for forum account and twitch account. But that would require Twitch to allow another website to read emails via API, not really ideal situation for security. Another is to link with PayPal, but that has even more issues. Manual is out of question becasue of workload it would mean.

Alright. So here is another problem.

 

How are they going to verify this? It would work if you could link your forum account together with Twitch, but that (currently) isn't the case. And it is really easy to just look at the chat, and grab whatever name that has an active subscription on Twitch.

 

And this is without them being an active member of the forum. How are they going to deal with all of this?

 

I just don't see it being do-able currently.

I'm a web developer and I've played around with the twitch api, linking a twitch account and confirming its subscription can be done really easily, the problem would be implementing it with the forums, I dont know if LTT even has a web developer on staff to handle it.

 

I would also say that the $0.50 difference in the money LTT gets from twitch subs (prime or otherwise) is negligible but that would be up to LTT to decide so it's useless arguing about it.

FPC/forum developers have some experience (I assume). I think its more about LMG wanting to gain some more independence from Twitch and such. My understanding is that even WAN Shows would be handled by own platform at some point. Though we are really far from that point.

true, but the person still pays for the amazon prime subscription, and LMG still gets the same revenue from a Twitch subscription regardless of whether that subscription is through Twitch prime or not. either way, there's no such things as a "free sub" because the subscriber is still paying for it, albeit indirectly. not saying they should implement the Twitch sub FPC idea, but you're looking at this the wrong way.
