There was a "leaked" benchmark posted but it doesn't make any sense at it shows Haswell at 3.00Ghz beating Broadwell at 3.20Ghz in single core.

To me, it's a sign that you should be doing something, be it changing paste, delidding, checking cooler, dust, etc. You can work with it sure, but your temps should be quite a bit lower. It's not unacceptable per se, but it shouldn't be happening, thus I'm saying unacceptable. 

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

My CPU idles at 60, and that has nothing to do with bad cooling and everything to do with my fans staying idle below 60C :P

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

The point I am trying to make is that a high idle temperature doesn't matter if the load temperature is fine. You should look for signs of bad cooling with the stress test temperature, always.

If it was the 'leaked' benchmarks that I think you are referring to, those were intentionally misleading charts, it was a 4.7GHz Haswell-E beating a 4.2GHz Broadwell-E.

In my experience, higher idle temps do mean higher load temps as well. Just my experience and my philosophy I go by. And if a new CPU with a new stock cooler is standing at 50C idle, I think that's the unacceptable part.

I sincerely hope AMD keeps Delta as the fan supplier, but opts for 120mm this time around instead of 92mm. At 92mm, the original wraith cooler was quite impressive, performing on par with the Hyper D92 (another 92mm cooler that costs $40). By going with a 120mm fan, and allowing it to support standard fan mounts, it gives users the choice to upgrade the fan for performance, or to go with a more silent option.

 

While the current wraith already allows for fan-swapping, you are forced to use 92mm fans, which to be honest, you won't be finding a 92mm fan beating the performance of the Delta QFR0912H. The heatsink itself looks well designed, having a nice slab of copper and a decent fin stack, so making it ever so slightly larger, and allowing a 120mm fan on it, it'd be a real winner all around to me.

Wow... now thats a huge improvement. Setting a new standard for stock coolers are we AMD? I might be convinced to keep the stock cooler.

I thought his testing was pretty fucking flawed: almost nobody would use this fans open air and inside a case well, the case itself could negate much of this effect specially if it's narrow enough. 

 

Testing airflow on open air is useless if you ask me.

It's a stock cooler - they could make it just borderline able to keep it under the CPU max temp and it'll be justified; not saying I'd be cool with that tho (pun intended).
