AMD Ryzen reference coolers leaked (and confirmed)

TrigrH

Random thoughts:

In the Raja photo, could he be using some after market cooler?

Even assuming it is the bundled cooler, I'd be surprised if they went RGB out of the box. Could white balance effects cause red to appear pink in a photo? Based on house lighting being usually low colour temperature, and cameras tend to get confused if things are really bright also. It does seem pretty bright in the photo...

On that note, which ties back to the stock Intel cooler, for them to spend effort in lighting it up assumes it would be seen. The Intel one not being pretty is likely because they don't expect people to display it.

Main system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 3x 16GB 2R, RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

I can't believe I didn't post this here sooner. Anyway cheers :P

To any of you wondering, the shroud/rims/rings do help with airflow as they will reduce turbulence, so yeah, better performance assuming the design was good to begin with.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

Yes yes, they all look cool and all, but how will they perform? If it's AMD and their "50C at idle is acceptable", well it isn't. I want real numbers, not wraith leaks. We all know how AMD and leaks work.

Ah a hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

But 73c on intel during a yt video is fine

To be fair, Intel CPUs (at the moment) are rated to be able to run at hotter temps so...that makes a difference I guess? :P

But yeah, intel stock heatsink=absolute junk...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Not sure what crap you use, but my 4460 goes to max 60ish when gaming (that's when playing MMO which gets it up to 90%+ usage sometimes). :P

Then delid it or get a proper cooling (I know you have Kraken) if you're getting 70C on youtube videos. Be a proper member of the #i7masterrace

I never get more than 50C tops when multitasking with youtube videos on my half glorified abacus that is 4700HQ. :P

Why is 50 at idle unacceptable? I don't see a reason unless you like to take your fingers to your CPU cooler constantly

Nice, I hope the stock cooler performs admirably and has a low stack height.

If the 95w one works significantly better I may have to try and source one of those and throw that onto the 65w chip..
