air cooling noise, new after changed direction

Sirgeorge

I got this new noise that showed up in my PC right after I changed the direction of a fan. I don't think it is coil whine because of the "coincidence" and I switched out the screws for rubber ones that reduce vibration so it isn't that (I tried with both the metal screws and the rubber ones). What is the problem? I did this to get a slightly net possitive airflow from a slightly net negative airflow.

you can use a screwdriver gently touched to areas that aren't sensitive to being damaged (plastic shrouds etc) to find the source of the noise if you can't find the exact source otherwise, you just stick your ear to the handle while it's touching stuff. What kind of fan is it? If it's a cheap fan the bearing/sleeve/wtf ever may have been damaged in the process of flipping it around. What kind of noise? High pitched like a screech (if from the fan, fan bearing likely damaged), low pitched or clicking, or a whooshing noise (likely turbulence from fans fighting or not getting adequate air/room) Does the noise change when fans are sped up, cpu stressed without changing case fans speed, gpu stressed without changing case fans speed?

The fans aren't damaged. They aren't cheap. The noise is coming from the fan with the switched flow (now flowing into the case). I'm going to try reversing the flow again and having another fan going inwards to take its place.

If you have the fans pushing air into each other (eg front and rear both pushing air into the case) they may be creating a lot of turbulence.

What fans do you have and does stopping the fans with your hands stop the noise?
