Tom's Hardware got the new card and ran some test on the redesigned cooler.

Original Post

After their 1070 and 1080 blew up from poor design and lack of thermal pads. Evga wants to gain back their reputation and your trust, with a brand new cooler called ICX. The new cooler will have 9 sensors, all can be monitored through the evga precision app. There is also 3 indicators leds for gpu, pwm, and vrm, on the card that tells users how their card is doing based on temp. Each led supports millions of colors to choose from. The new cooler will be available on their ftw2 and sc2.

The improvement over ACX3 is actually pretty impressive.

Best of luck to them, seriously considering a 1080 to replace my R9 390 later this year before I make the move to 4K.

Well, those seem to be worthwhile improvements. At least theyr trying to fix the issue and not ignore it, eh :p.

Gg,  good thing that I just did NOT buy a 1070 FTW. I was so close to ordering it :D

Edit: but why did they uglify the backplate? It looks like you can put some meat on it and start grill season.

Probably a stupid question as I'm not an electrician and don't know anything related to circuits, but what's the benefit of an integrated fuse? If it blows, you'll still have to send the whole card in for RMA. I imagine the answer is something along the lines of "so that if it blows, it doesn't take your house down with it" but as far as I know, there weren't any cases of video cards (EVGA or others) causing fires. I could be completely wrong on that part though.

It wasn't VRMs, it was a bad batch of capacitors.

lol @ everyone crying about aesthetics. Monitor is what you should be gawking at, not the hunk of metal and circuits delivering the picture.
