For the games that require always on internet connection it would be very simple no matter what you do, other than fake the server end/crack the game. Looking at you Ubisoft >:(.

What, you don't like to use UDon'tPlay??

He's clearly talking about the future when everyone's "PC" is just a client the size of a credit card.

Such a stretch that it left a stretch mark on Tim's mom.

my consumer rights are telling you off. That's the thing about having consumer rights, you wonder how people can even think of these stupid anti-consumer shenanigans. @leadeater will have it even better across the moat.

that's a streaming service whare you stream your games across a handheld or couch. grid is a platform stream you stream from Nvidia server.

I may be wrong, but as far as I know it still is streaming games you own through steam/origin/uplay

This is just the operating system that Microsoft will offer for ultra cheap devices. Given that it is unlikely that any games would actually run on the devices this OS is aimed at, I think the hype is rather exaggerated.

I am aware of that, but it's essentially stealing another company's game which Microsoft would be trying to profit from; it's never going to happen and Tim Sweeney is just fear mongering.

it wouldn't since its still microsofts software. they can block you from installing programs all they want because you don't own your computer if it has windows installed.

Can everybody stop fucking losing their minds?

Thank you.

Windows Cloud is not meant for gaming. Windows Cloud is meant to compete in the EDUCATION market. I would like to try a Windows Cloud enabled cheap notebook sometime in the future.

That's really the core of this.  There's literally no need to panic about Windows Cloud stealing your games any more than there is Android stealing them.  Both are an OS other than (full desktop) Windows which:

  1. will not run them,
  2. is completely unrelated,
  3. is completely optional

I do not understand where Sweeney is coming from here...

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Yeaaaah, if this happens there will be a large lawsuit. They don't own the games, they can't take them from you.

they also don't own the hardware on which you install the OS but that won't stop ms's from acting like they own it

You don't own the operating system you purchased from them. You agree to their terms of service.

Basically, they have a permit, signed by you, the end user, that says "We can do what we want" because no one reads their terms of service.

His tweets about Windows 10 Could just shows how crazy he is. Nobody will be force to use Windows 10 Cloud, it isn't meant for a gaming PC, it's meant for lightweight PCs.

It's a Chrome OS competitor ffs, only cheap laptops are going to come with Cloud pre-installed. Windows 10 Home will still be the norm

I think the guy has lost his marbles.

This makes no sense. Microsoft can't do that. The devices running Windows Cloud would be running cheap hardware; likely many will be fanless ARM designs. Gaming won't really be possible nor is it the intended use and certainly not targeting that audience.

If MS really wanted to fubar Steam it would open the gates for Apple to do something crazy with Vulcan or something ( I'm not up on GPU coding ) and enter the market, sure it would be stupidly expensive but it would be a knife into the back for a hurting MS which now, in theory, would have a pissed off userbase.

In short, if MS did this it's PR suicide. Windows Cloud is just an educational tool, that will likely be dead years after it's release given how most ISP's in the Uk at least are tight-fisted with upload bandwidth, and I imagine an entire school using Windows Cloud would rapidly run into issues with upload saturating the downstream.  Or will have to have network admin cap the upload, slowing productivity.  And even with this in the UK at least most high schools have students bringing their own devices, which run full-fat Windows/MacOS, so what's the point?

Remember when this moron whined about the Windows store and how it was going to kill steam? I know he loves OpenGL/Linux, and probably why he's going full retard, but it's not fun anymore. He just sounds like he lost his mind and rambles like a looney.
