Use single powerful gpu it will give u more performance for ur money without dealing with diminishing returns in multi gpu config.

I like how this is the usual advice except for when someone is asking if 2 1080s or a Titan XP lol

But yeah, get the single more powerful one

Needs money for car parts :P

Lol because there's no more powerful gpu in the market than 1080 and titan xp or r9 fury series.

If there is then people will tell u to just buy GTX 2080.

I meant it as in, when someone asks that question, everyone suddenly jumps on the SLI train because 'its better'

Get a 1080 however you will have to start playing CSGO on high/ultra because you'll have wasted your money.

I would clearly go on the 1080 because many and many apps won't work on two GPUs even if we are talking about 980's. Also the performance sucks on the SLI. One GPU works 100% of its power while the second one goes around 25 to 50%.

Sell the 980 ti and buy the 1080.

Here is a video of how can the SLI scaling be all over the place or not even work.... How can something be more clearer on med res ? What monitor do you have ?

Try overclock the CPU. I have the same CPU clocked at 4.6GHz and can max any game out at 1920x1080 with a 1070 (basically a 980Ti with 2GB more VRAM and less CUDA Cores).

I'd go with the 980's. Way more power then a 1080. Also why are you playing as such low res and settings on a 1440 monitor?

Get a single gtx 980ti and overclock the living crap out of it. Then you will find that you have a 3% increase in performance over the STOCK 1080. However the 1080 overclocks like a boss and leaving the OC 980ti in the dust. However SLI 980ti's overclocked to something like 1500Mhz will again give you a lead over an OC gtx 1080.

SLI 980ti(x2) for CS:GO low settings 1680x1050p... seems legit...

he has a 1440p 144hz monitor.

I assume he just wants as high FPS as possible to improve the latency but the difference between a 980ti and a 1080p or 980ti SLI will not be noticeable in the slightest

It makes no sense have a 1440p and run 1050p... also how is his 980ti not filling all 144 frames? my Titan X avaranges 230fps on CS:GO with every single graphical setting max out at 2560x1080p =0

Get the second 980ti, that will give you more performance than even a Pascal Titan X and you can get Volta when it launches.

Not really a smart move to move up one generation and down a tier. Getting a 1080 is a side grade.

wait for 1080ti ? when will it be available ?

I said Volta, which will be out late 2017 to early 2018. The 1080 refresh is close, and possibly a 1080ti but not worth it for a 980ti owner.

Your 980ti is 30% slower than a Pascal titan X and the 1080ti should be just under that. Not worth it when a second 980ti will give you the same performance for way less money.

Volta is the name of Nvidia's next architecture. Expect the 1170 if that is what it's name will be to cost 350-400 dollars and be as powerful as a 1080ti. Add 20% to the 1170 and you have about a 40% boost going to the 1180 from your 980ti.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
