That suggests that there is an issue (of a security nature) on your end - it shows as secure in Chrome and Firefox for me, as I believe it should.

If you click the icon to the left of the URL (it should be some sort of error icon), what message is displayed?

How is this pertinent? The issue is you are using an outdated OS that no longer is supported officially. Everything should still work fine, although you may have some security risks. Have you considered running linux?

I think that security error is saying that, because your chrome is out of date, it can't assert that the connection is secure because if a security vulnerability has been recently discovered in Chrome, it can't be fixed for you. This isn't a problem with the site, and there's nothing we can do to fix it.

Your connection is still secure, but if you would like to remove the warning, I would suggest that you switch to Firefox, though Mozilla will be ending support for Windows XP relatively soon as well I think.

Sure you do. Your choices if funds are not available and you want to upgrade to the modern age are;

• Use Windows 10 without activating it and live with the limitations (which apparently aren't many)
• Use Linux

Because I need Windows and it's software to be able to provide Free Computers to Children in need. They will not know how to run Linux. I also am trying to catch up after 10 years offline. Also now people are asking me to help them with their PCs, to optimize and repair. At least this way I can make a couple of dollars here and there, as well as provide for those in need. I plan to have my 501C3 Status by June, 14th 2017. Right now I have only $0.27 to my name with nothing incoming. I can not burn an ISO because all the software I have tried has said it does not support burning rom in Win XP. There is nothing I can do even if I can find a reliable ISO for both 32bit and 64 bit Win 7 or 8.1 Ultimate.

Nobody will learn to use linux if they are all taught on, and given windows machines. Give them machines with linux that looks like windows in the UI, if they are in need so badly, so I doubt they would complain about the choice of OS. Maybe it will help them learn a bit more about the computer? Wouldn't it be cheaper to get more machines that have linux without paying for the licencing fees from MS?

 

Yeah there's likely other reasons against this but i'm sure some people wouldn't mind linux.

I honestly can't see how that's the best answer but ok. Also what's the big issue with running Win 10? Sure it has some drawbacks, but you should be able to run it w/o a problem. Maybe a driver issue here and there but even the majority of Win 7 drivers should work on 10.

I am thankful that I have an antique Win XP Laptop and Net Access. Us poor have no choice but to take what is provided. As to why not give a child a Linux machine, well where are they going to get the software that many schools now require they use in a version to run on Linux? Most are either Windows or IOs. I have to provide them a usable tool in today's system as it is now. Not based on what I would prefer to give them. Most underprivileged children have a parent(s) that are minimally educated so will be unable to help them. The Majority of teachers also would not understand Unix in any form. Sure you can give someone a great book to read. But if it is in an unknown language then it is useless to them. The majority of what I have experienced here in my short time is attacks, and belittling instead of actual help. Yes, there are people like me in the world, whether you like it or not. I live in a leaky camper without running water, no transportation, and only FoodStamps to support myself. I need Heart Surgery now. But the State says I am not disabled. I may, just maybe get disability in 3-5 years if I am lucky, and if I live that long. I am just trying to help people like myself the best way I can. I built my first PC in 1982.  I also set up my high schools first computer system as a Junior in 1980. I know what I need to do. I asked the original question because I thought since I am also using https everywhere addon and bitdefender for XP that it was this site not using https. Well, I was wrong, so sue me. I am just looking for useful advice and help, so that I can, in turn, help others.

The people who buy these pcs are often technologically clueless, and they manage to pick up ubuntu very fast. hmm I haven't read this thread in full, but from what I;ve gathered after lightly skimming, is that you can't afford windows for all of these children. Thank you for what you are doing, it's great.

 

My suggestion is a little furhter from the legal side of things, but why don't you just get the install media (however you decide to) and not activate it when it prompts you to? it works fine without it. I may or may not currently be on an unregistered sytem. It'll just nag once in a while, I can live with that.

In my understanding most "software" by schools are webbased, not specially windows software. My old school moved to Ubuntu thinclients for most machines just when I was leaving. Have you asked from your peers what software schools use? If you are doing this locally, there's good chance that software used is same across whole state.

 

Side note. I feel sad that your country has fallen (or risen?) to the state where it currently is. Here all students get equal opportunity, kinda. Disabled ones are in long process of requesting and waiting for national social services to make decisions about providing tools for them. Everyone gets help, but waiting times can be long.

How would illegal immigrants be able to access any more healthcare than you? Wouldn't first thing they are asked about be certification of citizenship (passport or other ID or birth certificate)? And why would any refugee come to country which they hate to begin with? That makes even less sense. They are leaving the country they love to come someplace they hate?

Helpful tip. Everyone has problems don't go spewing yours to the world. A more constructive thread would consist of. Is LTT using https? With specs of browser and such  Someone responds with yes and your PC is outdated. So you say thanks and mark it as solved and now know you need to update your browser or such.

This guy is trolling pretty much everyone, my advice would be to ignore him.  Here in the U.S, unless you've been actively defrauding the government your entire life (by not paying taxes), you'll get a few thousand dollars in disability alone if you are disabled.  That doesn't count foodstamps, any private disability, etc.  You also automatically get qualified for medicare.  There are also very few 'illegal immigrants' that would receive ANY healthcare or any benefits at all without having proof that they are born here and are U.S. citizens.

 

Edit:  BTW, for anyone looking for a source, you can probably visit the Social Security website.  I know how the system works personally because my dad was severely injured in a car accident when I was 5 years old or so.  My dad instantly started receiving SSDI, and my mom did as well until we turn 18.  My dad (who made no more than $30,000/year up until the day of the car accident) receives $2,000/mo of disability + medicare.  This pays for the nursing home he stays in + some extra cash.  My social security statement states that I would make far more then that, at the age of 35, if i became disabled today.
