Minecraft Windows 10 Mobile version is in the works - No cancellation of support as previously thought

GoodBytes

Remember the news back 2 weeks or so on how Microsoft is pulling the plug on Minecraft on Windows Phone?

Well turns out, like all these kind of news, it is only Windows Phone 8 support has been dropped, NOT Windows 10 Mobile.

Based on a leak, Microsoft is well working on a new version of the Windows 10 Mobile version of the gam, possibly a UWP version, hence why Windows Phone 8 support has stopped

To be exact, the leak doesn't show the game running, just a long list change log for version: 1.0.0.3 Beta indicating that it is in the works. The PC version of the game is 1.0.0.2  from the Store. The leak is form a reddit subforum shows the following change log for this new version in the works:

  • Added Candy texture pack
  • Added Dutch localization
  • Added Windows Phone 10 support

  • Fixed some spacing when truncating bold text

  • Tweaked the textures of flower/mushroom blocks

  • Fixed an issue causing servers to blink between online and offline status
  • Fixed a Realms crash when a player exits
  • Fixed a crash when using some items
  • Fixed a server crash when a player entered a mutated biome
  • Fixed an issue that caused pressure plates, buttons, and other Redstone components to become stuck
  • Fixed an issue with hoppers not ticking the proper order

Something to keep in mind is that when "Windows Phone" is used, it doesn't mean Windows 10 Mobile. So many apps said that they will end support for Windows Phone's, and then the next day or so, "Hey look! Here is a UWP app of our app, works on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile!".

It appears that Microsoft was trolling us the first time around when they discontinued support for Windows Phones.

Damn. Microsoft needs a better company wide marketing department.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Now this would be nice to play on a Snapdragon 835 if HP or Alcatel OneTouch gets around to making an 835 powered Windows 10 Mobile device :).

Isn't Microsoft supposed to be making a Surface Phone with the 835? That seemed to be what all the talk about x86 emulation on Snapdragons were all about (well that and possibly a Surface 4 with an SD835 too).

It's highly suspected that they will be.
