There's a fan project called Wiimmfi that can be used to play Wii/DS games (like Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Animal Crossing) online again.

There's also RiiConnect24 which can be used to restore some online functionality to the Wii's home menu. This includes the News and Weather channels, as well as the Wii Message Board (aka WiiMail)

Hey guys, long time watcher but not an active poster but I really hope you guys see this request. I just watched this week's wan show and Luke mentioned local machine steam in home streaming. I would REALLY like to see a video of this because just like Luke I'm very tired of Windows 10.

I can probably figure this out myself but that would require some tinkering to know if it'll work for my specific needs and well, I'm lazy and I think it would be a very cool video :P. Plz plz, if you could make a video of using linux to game over a VM running windows.

Actually Linus there still is an option to play Mario Kart DS online using one of the many community servers^^. Sadly only Mario Kart Wii is still getting a fair amount of people (80-120 most of the time) playing from the games of the DS / Wii era.

Me wondering out loud if those drives will be powered down when not in use, or just head parked.  Sure HDD's don't use much power (~5 watts idle) If you have over 100 of them that's a decent-ish chunk of power, but more importantly heat that your AC now has to remove- which again adds to the power consumption.

Perhaps if the drives were powered down until they were actually necessary for storage (as the usage of the volume grows) It would also save on the life of the drives too.

So.. when I first heard about Linus getting 1PB's of storage, my first reaction was "did he literally suck seagates d*** for that?"

Well, that thought continued on to a sort-of conspiracy theory..

On the 20th January WAN show, Linus officially announces that he got castrated.

Just two weeks later he announces that LTT is getting 1 PB of hard drives from Seagate.

Maybe the two were related..? xD

That Win10 rant was way too short, @Slick . I have a feeling that you could have gone on about it for 10 more minutes if you wanted to.

TBH I'd love to see a complete comparison of the current OSes (that'll be Win7, 8.1 and 10 then, with Vista being 2 months from EoL nobody is going to make that switch anymore), with honest opinions and suggestions on which one to use and why.

Linus, when you were talking about the Skype like meeting service that use the multiple rooms and bubbles representing users sound like Sococo. Some people where I work use that for collaboration. I liked it but the rest of my team doesn't like it so make no sense for me to use. What we do use is so clunky and a pain to use a times. Luke, I totally agree with you about quality lacking at times.

Why do you need to shoot in 8k?

You would need to have a gigantic screen to actually take advantage of 8k resolution.

I know, that you want better quality, but once you get past a certain point, you get diminishing returns.

All the ISPs in the world advertise their speed as "up to", not just the ones in the US and Canada.

Even ISP, who don't throttle, advertise this way because they don't want to be sued, but not in the way you think.

It's because a lot of people don't know, that download speeds also depend on the speed of the server from which they're downloading, not just the speed of the Internet connection.

'Future proofing'.

It's also nice for when they need to zoom in and still retain the shot's quality.
