First build! :D - Looking for a second opinion

Hello everybody :)

I'm planning on building a PC, I've made a build with help from some other people.

I'd like to have some second opinions, just to be sure!

Please tell me if i made good choises, or not ( if not, please tell why )

Battlefield 4 is out! and my own pc is just not good enough.

Just using 1 screen. Should be a bit "Future proof"

my budget is around 1500, but it got a bit higher.

I'm propably overclocking a little bit, but i dont think i need watercooling.

Build :

Case: Cooler Master HAF X

PSU :Cooler Master Silent Pro M2

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K / 3.4 GHz

CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 3 Rev. B PCGH Edition

GPU : Asus R9290X-4GD5

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Series (16GB -  2x8GB)

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO Basic ( 250GB )

HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 (2TB)

and a cheap diskreader.

Total: 1565 Euro ( Think in dolar it's 1:1 @ hardware )

Do you like it?

Or should i change things?

Thanks for reading/helping!

And i am very sorry for my terrible English.

Florin.

maybe a 8350 over the 4670K since BF4 and a lot more new titles should leverage 8 cores.

Wait a week and get a nonreferance 290, not 290X as the performance is damn near the same. Unless you want BF4 with GPU (money saved will be able to buy BF4 and premium)

i would go for an 8350, and that cooler, watch a video on how to install it. its really easy, you just need to know how. I didnt, so it took 10 hours. great cooler though

and go for an non-reference card. its just much quieter, or at least it should be.

I already do own BF4,

Is the 8350 Much better than the I5 4670K ? I am not really known with AMD processors, and they use alot more power right ?

Also, is AMD from the same quality as intel ? will it last just as long? Won't there be any problem ?

I am sorry for my uncertainty hehe..

If the diffrence is not big, i'd like to keep the Intel.. but if it iss i'll switch to the 8350

And is the 290x not worth it ? I'm willing to give out a little bit more money just to be sure.

And the 290 does not have Uber/quite mode etc.. dont know if it's worth it.

The availability of the 290 will also be bad i heard, so will i not run into problems if i want to get a second 290 later?

@coen113, A non reference card? Do you mean a Costum GPU ? Like one with 2/3 fans instead of the stock cooleR?

I'd like to, but i'm not so sure how long it takes till they are available.

Why a HAF X? They are just dust collectors (I have 3 mates with HAF series cases lol) Look at a 650D or 750D

Get a H100i

FX8350 (it will be beneficial)

Decent 990x board

You won't need 16gb for gaming, look at 8gb

How many watts is your PSU?

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

You won't be running the 290x at 100% so i don't think it will be as bad as people make it out to be

8350 will out perform the 4670k in battlefield and future titles as they are looking to use more cores

AMD is fine, I would not worry about the power consumption, since you will have a decent cooler, and it will last about thesame. but games will be optimised for more cores in the future, so you will have better performance. And i do mean a card with a Non-stock cooler, like the MSi twin frozer or the Asus direct CUII cooler.

Yes a 750D is greatly better

Of course a H100i would work with an 8350 otherwise why would i suggest it?

Okay, i'm sorry.

In The Netherlands, The one you linked, is it much better than Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 AMD 990X? The price is a bit high.

Yeah i know Tweakers, but i'm not really into ordering @ 5 different shops :P

afuture is the cheapest. you can look at hardware.info and fill in your wishlist and see which shop is the cheapest. i would go for the gtx 780 / gtx 780 ti. the 290X makes a lot of noice and runs very hot. go for the zotac gtx 780 amp edition!

current rig (march 2023)

Not really, unless your planning on massive OCing, 3/4 way sli and other crazy features they offer, as long as its a 990x board they tend to be good

i've been thinking along time about choosing nvidia or AMD, I'm going for AMD.

Soo, i've remade my build:

Corsair Obsidian Series 750D - Fulltowermodel

ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z Republic of Gamers

CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2 850W

Asus R9290X-4GD5 ( Might change this later )

AMD Black Edition - AMD FX 8350

Corsair Hydro Series H100i Perfomance Liquid CPU Cooler
Samsung 840 EVO Basic - Solid state drive (250GB)
Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 (2TB)
Corsair Vengeance Pro Series (2x8GB just to be sure )
Samsung SH-224DB ( DVD-Drive )

Edit:pffff, the noise.. I better wait.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQhqOKKAq7o

If I were you, I would go for GTX 780 which already has non-reference cards on the market. If you want the 290X it would be wise to wait for non-reference ones.

Well, I've got to wait till late november till my paycheck arrives. i've heard the non reference coolers will be available by that time too ;)

Thx for helping anyway :D
