What?  I do own a Clevo P650RS (older cpu model).  I got mine from HIDEvolution.  Easily the best in my experience, but they charged like a 100 dollar premium.

Thanks alot for ur time

Of course, and if you don't want the price of HID, try LPC-Digital.  Larry there is great.

Feel free to ask me further questions (and anyone else reading this).

Responses time doesn't matter. What matter more is refresh rate

You are correct idk what the other guy is saying.

Response is based off of the refresh rate though, if its a 60Hz display response times can be higher than on 144hz.

Something along the lines of 5ms or less is what you probably want.

That doesn't really make sense.  He means the power draw of the screen.  I'm not sure the impact @edit1754 would probably know.

Acer will be good, not sure what's in the Lenovo and the HP shouldn't be a nicer panel than the Acer unless something changed recently.

@Galm you seem to be very knowledgeable with these laptops. May I ask a huge favor of you? If you ever get the free time, can you take a screenshot of your BIOS, specifically in the memory overclocking part of the BIOS? I would love to see what kind of memory overclocking options are available on those Clevo laptops. I'd also like to know whether or not the PREMA bios is worth it to an avid memory overclocker like myself. As far as CPU's go, I'd much rather let them run at stock clocks with an undervolt, but I simply do not tolerate slow memory.

My (incomplete) memory overclocking guide:

The P6x0Rx/Hx series Prema version is not out yet. If you want to see memory options on a Prema bios refer to here. As far as I remember, Prema bios just allows for using the CL16 3000/3200mhz GSkill RipJaws ram, and that lowering the timings or upping the speed is extremely minimal. Take note that most laptop bios aren't even capable of running anything 2666mhz + at decent timings so yea.

The options do look limited, but it was nice to see the inclusion of some secondary timings, and voltage control. If they allow a custom option (instead of just XMP) and allow all that is shown to be touched, then this will be more than enough to make some of those awful DDR4 SO-DIMM XMP's more bearable. Thanks for posting this!

Have you been able to look at screenshots of the Prema bios on other Clevos?  It should be similar especially if you can find one of an older P650.

Thanks @Pendragon

  • 2 weeks later...

All people searching for sub 1000 laptops (ande recommenders like @Pendragon, @D2ultima etc...)

Check out these sub 1000 dollar GTX 1060 equipped machines:

Asus FX502VM-AH51 - Core i5-6300HQ, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD - $919

MSI GP62MVR Leopard Pro-048 - Core i7-6700HQ, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD - $999, but $899 after $100 mail-in rebate.

I'm personally more partial to the GP63, but both are great deals.
