GTX 690 Craigslist price?

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Somewhat local craigslist seller is selling a GtX 690 for $150. Worth it? GPUboss (for what it's worth) says it beats out my 1060 by a good margin. I wouldn't use it in my main rig because it's most likely loud as hell, but still...

What do you guys think?

It's basically two 680s slapped together where 770s are just labelled 680s so...dual 770s basically for $150 :P

A 770 performance is inbetween a 970 and 960 where a 1060 has the perf of a 980, yeah not surprising how it beats the 1060 in SLI supported games...

Is it worth it however?

Ermmmm maybe?

Edit: "a 1060 has the perf of a 1060"...I mean 980 xD

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Which GTX 690? There are quite a few.

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

1. Never trust GPU Boss, that website is full of lies.

2. I don't know anything about the card myself but from reviews I've seen on it, it is possible that it could beat a 3GB 1060 but I highly doubt it would beat the 6GB version. for $150 though maybe, you should see if they would go a little lower for it. It's an okay deal but not exactly the best. Also it's a dual chip card so you need good SLI support in games for it to really work well. That's why GPU boss would have it better than a 1060. GPU Boss just see's it as two GPU's in one card.

So does it actually act like 2 graphics cards in SLI? Even though it only takes up one PCIe slot?

Ad says "Nvidia GTX 690". With a picture like this GeForce_GTX_690_3qtr.jpg

Ok so first if there's no photo of the actual item that's a red flag already. Even more of a red flag since that is the reference design and most people don't buy the reference one, but it is the first one you'd find on Google Images.

Putting that aside, for a used GTX 690 Reference Edition, these are the prices they have sold for on eBay in the last two weeks:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=GTX 690 Reference&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

A Green price means the item sold at that price. A Red price means it did not sell. A Black price means it did not sell, but the seller relisted it, possibly at a lower price.

Seen them go for 150-220usd. Id buy it as I want one to hang up with some other cards. Nothing like a good looking card as a paperweight.

Where did you see that it's a significantly better performer?

The 680 gets absolutely destroyed by the 1060.

The 780 is still beaten by a huge margain by the 1060.

770 SLI beats a 690, sometimes by a wide margin.

At most I'd say you'd be lucky to break even when it comes to performance, at a significantly higher power envelope.

It will be tad better in sli supported games but its only 2gb vram, not worth it.

Not worth it. Based on theoretical performance it is an ok card for the money, however, with SLI you never know the issues you will get. Its also an older card and has a higher power draw. I would save up and go with a RX480.

FYI, Nvidia limited board partners to the reference design for the 690, like the more recent Titan series cards.

Ehhhh wut? A 770 is literally a 680 but with more matured wafers...a 690 is more or less dual 770s...although clocked lower :P
