Time to expand my RAID for my Steam library, I'm running out of room in my case for SSDs. :(

Time to swap them out for the new 32TB Samsung SSDs? I've got 32 2.5" bays, wonder what the total cost would be......

Nah, for my Steam library I literally get the cheapest SSDs I can find then stripe them together and go. :D

Yea I do the same but went slightly up market and use 512GB Pro's, used for more than just steam but mostly that.

Am I the only person left using a good ol mechanical drive for my games library? My WD Black never gives me any issues and my load times are fine, when I play BF1 I am amongst the first 10 players spawned into the game.

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

In actual seriousness I use them for hosting a large number of VMs, steam library just gave me an excuse to go that big.

Knowing Bethesda optimization, the GTX 1080 requirement may very well be the 1080p requirement. Also, is Fallout 4 still a thing? Sure, if you accept it's just a shoot and loot game, it's a decent casual experience. Hardly worth a second look at over a year after it's release though.

Motherboard: Asus X570-E
CPU: 3900x 4.3GHZ

Memory: G.skill Trident GTZR 3200mhz cl14

GPU: AMD RX 570

SSD2: Samsung MX500 500GB

I have a genuine reason for wanting a larger SSD. I'm still stuck on 128GB.....

Development tools take up a LOT of storage. Visual Studio as is takes up around 20GB and that is with a light installation.

I'd really like to be able to expand it so that I can go add features which would bring it up to like 30GB.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

I stand by my point: they were smart!

It's like doom running so smoothly by the way :)

Yes, my point was that Bethesda is being lazy. Which is ironic considering they own Id now. Granted, Carmack is gone, but honestly Bethesda should just let Id do all the technical work and focus on what they're actually good at.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Time to get a thundebolt adding card, and an external raid chassis so. It'll do wonders. Shove all the raid arrays and racks in another room and just have the cable to the pc.

You don't need a high resolution monitor to see improvement from higher texture resolution.

True, but i already have a few texture mods installed anyway.

It's not odd at all. Most games dont run 4k textures even at 4k resolution.

Tbh at 58GB this is probably 8K textures.

I think 4k, the games crappy textures are still 14gb on their own. 4k @ 60gb in comparison seems reasonable, it's still a ridicules amount though.

Well time to go play through witcher 3 again, a game that actually looks good without the need for HD texture packs.

I don't think that was point he was making, I'm pretty sure he was referring to ISPs being crappy which isn't Bethesda's fault.

Yeah so he pays for it, then we find better ISP and faster internet with no data cap. Even a decent internet connection is going to take a while to download 58GB file.

And not only that, this requirements are stupid. I bet a 1070 with a 6600k will do just fine.

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

I don't even play that game, so why would I care about some HD texture pack coming in at 58GB. IDGAF even if it comes in at 58TB.
