i5 7600k or a i7 6700k for a gaming build ?

So m working on my second build now, the first one being a fx 8350 Black edition with R9 290x.

Being from india the stuff is always a lil overpriced, but there is a really small price difference between a i7 6700k and a i5 7600k (the latter being a lil cheaper).

I plan to couple it with a MSI Geforce gtx 1060 3gb armor ocv1 (do plan to add another 1060 later), 8x2 Kingston Fury ,mounted on a MSI Z170-A Pro.

So back to the question is a i7 6700k better than the much newer i5 7600k, did compare them on cpu boss but wanna know if someone got a different opinion

considering the 1 year gap in their launch dates and the $50 price difference (As i see it on amazon india).

Thanks in advance.

6700k is quite a bit better than a 7600k.  If you can get both for relatively the same price, you should get the 6700k.

save the hassle, get a 6700k, chances are high you wont even get the 7600k running without a bios update.

EDIT: cpuboss is terrible, use userbenchmark :D

You can't add another 1060...they don't support SLI.

There's no reason to not buy an i7 if you've the money for it without sacrificing elsewhere. If you do have to drop the GPU to get the i7, go with an i5 or wait.

Wait so can i not add another graphics card even if its not in sli ?

Like i plan to add another 1060 or if i still got budget constraints maybe a 1050 for tht lil extra performance boost.

Coz if thts the case then ill wait, save up n get a 1070 instead.

Agreed n checked it out,it does require a bios update which is availabe on Asus's website.

Just gotta pop the update in a FAT32 flash drive n install it, since i got a laptop too it shouldnt be a concern.

except the mobo mentioned in the OP doesnt support bios updates without a working processor, in other words you'll need a skylake cpu in order to make the kaby lake cpu work.

You can, but not legitimately.  You couldn't use them together with any games, except Ashes of the Similarity.

Just get a 1070.

i am from INDIA too

so in my opinion core i5 7600k will be more than enough for gaming

core i7 is for mainly rendering work

The only i7's that could be argued as being primarily for rendering are the 6, 8, and 10 core Core i7 Extreme Edition processors on X99.

As it stands, the i5 is fine for nearly all gaming so long as one isn't trying to max out the newest games with a GTX 1070/1080. That isn't exactly encouraging, as games become more demanding of CPU resources (especially under Vulkan and Dx12), meaning the i5's can easily be bottlenecks in the next few years. The mainstream quadcore i7's would go longer without needing a replacement, and there are improvements in existing games like GTA V.

With the respective stock clocks, and the potential overclocks we've seen so far (not that much in the way of real stability testing has been done so far), there is little reason to pick the 7600K over the 6700K if they're close in price.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.
