low end. really low end. not horrid, but barely passable for modern gaming.

it's technically better than 4600 integrated graphics

Well there are two versions of the GT 730, one sucks and the other is a bit better than Skylake iGPU. If your 730 has GDDR5, chances are it's good. But the easiest way to find out whether it'll run your game is to search for "GT 730 GDDR5 GTA V performance", or go to the GTA V minimum specs and see how it compares. Turning down resolution to 1280x720 would also help.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I mean it runs. But you would actually be better with a 750 ti.

I'd recommend something a little higher end if you're into gaming.

Maybe a 750 Ti or something similar.

IIRC, it's comparable to integrated graphics... meaning it's not very good at all.

it's not horrid, it's just... low end.

also, avoid the 1GB DDR3 version like the plague, for obvious reasons:

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-730/specifications

if you're buying one new, i do really want to press on a GTX750Ti instead, they're only a small bit more, for a huge leap in performance. (off the top of my head, we're talking in the range of 2-3x the real world performance)

from experience, against a GT640 (which is essentially on par with the 730), no, it hilareously does not come even close.

just because of how dated those things are, you're not going to have a very good experience.

The GT 730 isn't worth anyone's time.

I'll voice a defense of the 730. A while back, I bought a crappy OEM GT 730 for $20 to use in an HTPC. 2GB of VRAM, sure, but it's DDR3. It's very literally, IIRC, just a rebadged GT 430 that was handed out to OEMs who wanted a "gaming" card in their prebuilts.

What's really scary is that when you see Dell hocking XPS high performance desktops with an i7-6700, this is the exact GPU they load in there. I'm not sure if that says more about Dell or about what people will throw their wallets at you for if you attach the word "gaming" to it.

But I digress. By quite a bit, actually. I'm supposed to be defending the damn card, right?

Hell, now I can't even remember what I thought was defensible about it. If you can get your hands on a GT 4--er--730 DDR3 for $10-15, it'll handle 1080p streaming content at 30fps well enough. You might be able to play Solitaire without frame drops, but that whole bouncing deck thing at the end could kill it. And when you consider that the GDDR5 version isn't really that much better...

GDDR5 HD7770 cards are going for $25-35 on eBay. Even those are just ever so slightly barely a teeny little bit capable of GTA V at 1080p, but they're awesome 900p and 720p cards, and if you can't afford a 750 Ti or 1050, those are solid cards that you could probably afford just by selling the 730.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

From personal experience,  It is quite good for 720p gaming@low settings.(for older titles)

I mostly play NFS titles, which perfom quite well at decent details

For GTA5, I started in a city @720p High and I get 35-40 FPS, but few FPS drops due to: (Actually upto 15 FPS drops)

-Game installed on an external HDD

-CPU (Core 2 Duo E8400 3 GHz)

Remember, if you buy one make sure its the 2GB GDDR5 version, as DDR3 versions are useless.

I'm very glad that in my custom pre-built from early 2014 that I specified a GTX 650ti OC 2GB to go with the i5 4440. The similar rig with an ATX motherboard+16GB RAM+i7 4770 only had a 1GB GTX 650 and cost an extra $1000 AUD :D. And recently seeing an i5 6500 inside a pre-built (I think it was Dell or HP) paired with card far weaker than the iGPU....
