Well it is far simpler I just moved Sleeping Dogs from my active SSD drive to my sleeping but still installed mechanical.

Thats cool, it can do what SteamMover has been doing since 2010 :P

Well, almost. SteamMover moves the files and adds a hard-link to the old folder, so its just a different way of achieving the same thing.

Well, in my case, German would likely have been my first language, since my entire traceable lineage is German. But I was born in an English speaking country with English speaking parents.

First language typically means the language you grow up speaking.

I know that, my first language is English. However, the events of how that came to be all revolve around my great grandparents moving from Germany in the early 1930's.

But not everyone here speaks English as their first language.

Copying the files for me resulted in all those games not being recognized by Steam so I'm actually glad to hear about both this and GamePipe.

Steam should have had this since day 1. I have been asking for this for 2 years now. It's crazy this is just now being added, when people have been complaining for years. Anyways, better later then never. Glad Steam added this.

Steam's been installed on my main machine since 30/06/2015 and choosing the default location for the game library, in big-picture-mode and in normal view, has been around since before then (Slick actually mentioned how to do it once in one of his Twitch streams).

 However, when trying to shrink the C: drive because it was nearly at capacity I noticed today that some game saves are stored in Documents > My Games folder! Although this and the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam folder shown in the image are hopefully already being synced with the Steam cloud, could this be the improvement that they speak of within January's Steam client update?

I used GamePipe (a open source project) to move my STEAM games from a location to another, and before that ... manually through STEAM's folders - was a nightmare

Nope, you just quit Steam, move VDF and folder to new location then start Steam again and it works.

ACF maybe? In steamapps area bunch of appmanifest_xxxxxx.acf files which seem to correspond to the number of games in the common subfolder. I assume, but haven't tested, to cleanly move between locations you need to move both the subfolder containing the game files, and also the ACF file. The problem is, you don't know what the file is for without opening it in a text editor. For a long list, that's a pain...

 

Actually, looking inside the acf file it does reference a vdf one...
