pasta help

So...

can I replace olive oil with canola oil when I'm making pasta?

Like the only things I need to create the pasta is:

Olive oil (i don't have any :( )

pasta

italian seasoning

salt

butter

Technically, yes you can replace the olive oil with canola oil.  That being said, the taste is going to be fairly different as canola oil and olive oil are made in different manners from different plants.  Depending on what you are trying to make, it might be better to cut back on the oil or skip it all together and use a bit more butter...

Some recipes call for adding oil to the cooking water.  This is unnecessary.

You can dress the cooked pasta with pretty much any oil to your liking.  Canola has a very light/neutral flavor, so will not bring as much brightness as a virgin olive oil.

I'd go 50-50 with oil and melted butter, then some grated hard cheese.
