Hackers Bypass Call Of Duty: Ghost's 6 GB Minimum RAM Requirement

Hackers Bypass COD Ghost's 6 GB Minimum RAM Requirement

Activision and Infinity Ward have set a ridiculous restriction to play Call of Duty: Ghosts. In the minimum system requirements field, the developers filled out 6 GB of RAM. While this can usually be ignored, the game has an inbuilt system to prevent bypassing it. Meaning, if your system has 5.99 GB of RAM, Call fo Duty: Ghosts will simply not run (it won't launch). However, barely hours after the first leaked files for PC hit the web, hackers (crackers) have been successful in getting rid of the stupid restriction and run the game, on Ultra settings nonetheless, on a system with just 4 GB of RAM.

We wonder as to how Activision would explain why a legit, paid version of Call of Duty: Ghosts has some unnecessary restriction while a cracked one works better. 4 GB of RAM is considered a norm and can be found in many high-end PCs. It's sad that Infinity Ward put such a restriction. Here's a video of COD: Ghosts running on a PC with just 4 GB of RAM.

Ghost looks like a high texture version of normal COD

this is just BS to win us (PC enthusiasts) over

CoD: Can we be part of the good looking game club?

Star citizen: No CoD you have muddy textures and filters and you just don't look that good. I mean look at our game, it's so amazing you need 8GB of RAM to run it properly.

CoD: Look look i said our game needs 6GBs of RAM and we made it so people can't play it unless they have 6GBs so than people will think it looks good yeah?

Star citizen: No Cod the thing is we actually use all the RAM we dont just have some artificial number.

CoD: What?

Star citizen: Just go to your room CoD and think about what you've done.

I don't think anything under 8 will really hurt.

Why am I not surprised?

This is complete bullshit from Activision. So they artificially limited the game to run at only 6GB+ computers, just to make it seem like it is more demanding? Earth to Activision: a good game has low system requirements but good graphics and effects. Artificially increasing the system requirements would just make your game look bloated and unoptimized.

Makes you wonder if they purposely code the game to perform shitty, just so you think the game is actually utilizing your hardware that you just spent good money on based on their recommendations.

It's just synthetic! The game doesn't merit the performance decrease from previous COD games. The visuals just don't add up! it still looks the same...shitty!

Since when? 16 and up are for rigs that people also work on apart from playing. 8GB is more than enough for games. Each builds on YT are with 2x4GB if they are meant to be gaming rigs.

About hackers - Rockstar bought Securom DRM for 250k or 500k (dont remember; CBA to check) which was broken in 8 hours. In this case its good for people who wanna play CoD (bought legit!) and have 4GB of RAM...

Running task manager, bioshock infinate, kerbal space program (plane flying on cruise), minecraft, euro truck imulator 2, chrome (with facebook, ltt forum, and playing 5 youtube videos) and an explorer search im finally using just over 8gb of ram (8.47).

Ram is overrated.
anytime I see someone wanting 16gb of ram i wanna slap them! (I have 16gb of ram because i bought another 2x4gb from a friend for £25 with the intention to sell, its now £65).

16GB in my mini-ITX machine, but I'm buying a new ATX mobo soon and then I'll run 24GB (already have 8GB lying around)

And I run three game servers simultaneously, by the way.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

IW are such idiots. Did they think people wouldn't find out or something? To not be able to launch the game because you have less than 6GB of RAM is pathetic. We're talking about a game at minimum settings that requires triple the RAM of Crysis 3...

We'll probably see them remove this silly limitation sometime soon. Unless this is a really creative way to get more RAM sold.
