When you have like a budget from anywhere of £1000-4500~, yes :P

Moght be a good idea then?  Idk, I'd rather have a new GPU personally.

its 2x Fury Nano + a AIO... a Nano still costs like 350-400$ each...

Technically not a difference between SLI or Crossfire. BUT, they have onboard PLX chips to have a physical PCIe interconnect between the PCIe connector on the board and the cores and between the cores themselves.

I meant is this dual GPU functionally the same as crossfire but in a shared housing or is it physically contructed differently so that while technically 2 GPUs it functions the same as a single GPU?

its crossfire in that sense.... its not quite a MCM setup, which would be what you are thinking of

Still CFX :/ (but it's better than SLI by a considerable mile so...I guess it's not that bad)

Well I mean my RX470 is enough to drive CSGO at 400fps and R6S at 130fps~ with my settings so I mean do I really need to upgrade?

I guess I did used to have dual fucking 290Xs...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

First world problems with reference PCBs, you can fry dem VRMs too easily :/

I mean is 1200MHz core really that high? (well...for Hawaii, it is xD)

Is a dual GPU thing like this different from SLI/Crossfire?

Slightly, if impelemented right. These cards can have interposers that can utilize the two GPUs as if they were one larger GPU (same theory as Crossfire/SLI), but they're a bit more successful in that endeavor as they are tied together by firmware and hardware designed exclusively to do that. Some work well, such as the Pro Duo, others work like hot garbage at times, like the Titan Z.

I don't really OC mine at all. Kinda wasteful since they are water cooled but I have vRAM issues more than I have performance problems, damn 2560x1600. Should have waited for the 8GB revisions.

I only game at 1080p so 4GB is enough...for now :P

You know what, rather than going to sleep, maybe I should try booting up my 'semi' dead 290X again...I want my 120fps R6S@ultra with no AA back again :/ (130fps at mixed medium, high and ultra settings is obviously just not good enough...).

Ah.   Still looks cool though.  Even if it is AMD.

Why would crossfire be better than SLI?

I suppose not.  It makes sense to match your GPU to what you want to play.  For you a 470 is enough.  Which is nice because a 470 is a lot cheaper than my 1070 cost me.

For me there's at least some games like Crysis 2 or Rise of the Tomb Raider that I'd need much better than a 470 for.

Cool.  That's nice this card is better designed to use both GPUs.

$429 USD plus tax.  So about $454 I think it was.

Goes to show AMD shit marketing, cause i didn't know this card existed.

Not in the slightest. When AMD called the Radeon Pro Duo the Pro Duo, they really meant the "professional" component of it. The card is set up to compete with Quadro cards, and enthusiasts looking for AMD's best card available.

Simply put, unless you're seeking a card like the Pro Duo for a specific type of use case, AMD doesn't want you to consider this card.

Yeah, but it sticks to the "Pro" nomenclature in its name. The card is more geared for professional work, and while it works basically just like crossfired Fury X's with AMD's gaming graphics drivers, it will want to default to the professional drivers that are optimized differently.

Interesting.  But it can be switched to their gaming drivers?

Yup, the older AMD FirePro D700 cards found the Mac Pro could use both drivers as well.

Including crossfire also. Use the Pro drivers and get 10-bit colour space support and the ability to toggle on ECC memory and other pro features.

Use Catalyst drivers and get Crossfire support and profiles for games.

AMD do some funky things with their products on occasion.

Crimson doesn't support the Dxx series of cards sadly.

Was all Catalyst when I used them.

Maybe for Pro series, but for desktop it does... although they recently revamped their whole pro driver too.

They specifically do not support the FirePro Dxxx ( D700, D500, D300 ) series anymore.

If you installed Catalyst drivers it would show up as HD 7900 based cards; as they used the same silicone.

Damn shame really; they left Apple in charge of the Windows side of their drivers, and OS X side.
Then again it was during 2014 when AMD was really in financial trouble, so I can see why they did it.

Actually not really... I don't recall the MSRP at launch but I'm betting it was easily $1000 or more
