The car sounds pretty nice right about now.

I know you're talking about the accelerator.

Consider a gtx titan x pascal.

It's not cheap, but it offers double precision.

i5 is plenty for gaming but if you are rendering then get the i7 and get a 1070 or 1080 (or even wait for 1080ti or amd vega if you don't need your pc right now)

Most(almost all) modern 3d renders have no need for double precision calculations.
Basically unless you're doing photoreal strand based hair don't bother and get something from the GTX lineup instead.

How would I go about setting up a quadro + geforce system? Im planning to put in an m2000 and a gtx 1070. One will be for gaming and one will be for 3D work. I will be getting a 6900k so you dont need to worry about pcie lanes

Go with the 1070 unless theres a specific feature you need, or professional drive support for sometime.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

You should do a 5820k and a 1080 and not two 1070s if you can. Not sure why you have two 1070s.

OP didn't really specify what they were using. They also said a majority of what they're doing is gaming, and they would have a better time gaming on a single video card rather than two.

EDIT: Apparently OP already had a thread for this? lmao

But he also mentioned gaming - hence the single GPU suggest by both of us and the questioning for SLI.

i know but work is really important and first priority for most people.
